Not at all, you just don't have good taste like us

Kidding on, I'd of been annoyed if Jessie won as well

Actually I think Jessie would have been annihilated more and I say that as a fan of neither.

Let's face it, Jessie couldn't act her way out of a paper bag and danced like me after 8 pints. Hardly leading lady material.

As a Jodie fan, i must admit Jessie was much better tonight than she usually is but i do agree with your point about her movement.

It won't be Cameron that fouls it up come December. It will be the critics who tear Jodie apart for not being raw, for not being edgy, for not being Jessie. And the sheeple will follow.

There are loads of opinions floating about on here which reflect nothing more than random punters' views. ALW and CM are who they are for a reason, because they have superior, proven aesthetic and commercial judgment.

They knew Jodie was going to win, based on some of the things they said tonight (they will have seen the previous voting figures) and the notice that recently went up on the Oliver! website basically restricting the chosen Nancy to four performances a week, after all that "8 shows a week" guff.

Well, frankly I am kicking myself for not laying off Jessie, and I am mightily pissed off that I will be attending on a night Jodie will be performing. I have nothing against her, she seems like a nice person, she may or may not be a person who I might vastly prefer in person than the other contestants, and she is a good performer, but she doesn't excite me, for me she has zero star quality and her voice is unsensational and she doesn't encapsulate the raw Nancy.

Good luck to Jodie. I am pleased for her. Jessie will get other chances and maybe Jodie needed this chance more; but even if I wasn't attending, I feel that Jessie, as CM said , "is Nancy", in her looks, in her naivity, in her age, in her unrefined demeanour.

Ha - the weird little dancer kid has just won BGT.

The United Morons of Great Britain and Northern Ireland strike again.

I am emigrating.

...yet ALW still got rid of Rachel who was by far the most consistent performer. Was that such a good call now?

The BBC have hinted there won't be more of these win a musical style shows, so I think this may well be the last

Hardly. If she'd come second I'm sure producers wouldn't be hesitating to take up someone who'd proven to be a more than capable performer by West End standards who was consistent throughout, occasionally stunning, and was never in the bottom two until she had to be in the final. If anything I think the reverse of your statement is true - which is why at the beginning of the night I was kind of hoping Jessie would win, even though I'm completely thrilled that Jodie won, too. Jodie comes across as being a bit more versatile, whereas Jessie has been promoted as being perfect for the role of Nancy. Outside of Nancy, I'm not really sure where her label of "She raw! Grrr!" applies.

By no means am I saying Jessie will struggle for work; I just think it's wrong of you to suggest that Jodie was less likely to find work than her.

Plus there's the fact that Jodie has her personality on her side (irrelevant, but true nonetheless). Jodie's fans love the person as well as the performer; Jessie's fans seem more to appreciate her talent rather than her personality - another thing I think would have worked in Jodie's favour had she come second.

Anyway, it's done. I think it's wrong of you to be calling this a "travesty". Even if she wasn't the best, she was definitely the second, or at least third, best in the competition. No need to be moaning about the fact that you're going to see her in a fabulous West End production. A lot of us don't even get the opportunity.

Hmmm I don't think he got it wrong at all. He may look like a puppet but he knows what he's talking about.
Jodie is just going to turn the show into a pantomime like production. It's going to be boring. I can just see it.
Nancy has a lot of songs in the musical, and although Jodie delivers, she is certainly doesn't have a world class vioce.
But perhaps she can prove me wrong.

Can I detect a partisan "eejits" southern Ireland bias. I think so.

I knew someone would say that. Well done Miss Marple.

No, I'm not Irish. I have 0.000% Irish ancestry. I have never been to Ireland. I am going off Guinness. And I think Eamon De Valera was a piece of ****.

So - no.

I just think Jessie really is Nancy.

Why the hell would she think WTF as you put it?
She has received rejection by drama schools so why should she be in shock when chosen for a west end musical lead role??????

Some of these posts are hilarious.Do you realise that OLIVER is the starring role in this show? Nancy is a fairly small role in comparison, all she needs to do is deliver the money note in 'As long as he needs me'
Rowan Atkinson is Fagin, this production will do just fine with Jodie.
Jessie is a good singer and she really pulled it out the bag tonight, but she can't act or do the accent.
Jodie will be fine.

Jodie won because the women who vote can 'relate' to her more. They didn't want the younger girls winning, ESPECIALLY the gorgeous Sam who they all hate. No other explanation is needed. That's it wrapped up in a nutshell.

Anyway, as Jessie is so talented, surely she doesn't have to just rely on the one role?? Surely there's a whole host of other WE parts which are just waiting for her to fill them? Why the obsession with Nancy? If she's that good she will move onwards and upwards.

Not Irish either. Never been there. But I think Jessie was the best.
If she had been from the east end would people have liked her more?

If you ever wanted an argument agasinst democracy that is it.

But good luck to Jodie - IDA anything was a closer call then BGT where the best performer didn't even reach the top 3.

I really don't think it was a sympathy vote. I think the public view of Nancy is a more Jodie-type character - as Andrew said, "I always thought the public would vote that way."

ALW can go on at the start of the series about how he wants to find a Justin Timberlake or an Amy Winehouse, but the public invariably votes for the more obvious and consistent Lee Mead or Jodie Prenger types. In this case, I felt Jodie was the best actress in the final, and the most consistent performer. She has also portrayed the warmth and vulnerability that Nancy needs, more than the other finalists, in my opinion.

I can't defend the public's decisions on Leon or Michelle, though. I didn't understand either of those winners.

"Sickness and holiday permitting, we have decided that the winning Nancy is scheduled to perform on Monday and Tuesday evenings, Wednesday matinees and Friday evenings. Until the show opens in December we cannot make a final decision on any additional performances."
