I don't think we saw these two facets in enough depth to make a real judgement call on them

I think she was amazing tonight and hope I do hear her again some time but I am really glad she didn't win tonight. She didn't deserve to win it on a couple of good performances after her poor attitude throughout the series. She needs to learn some humility and I hope she does.

i cant get over the fact jessie didnt win

just based on tonights performances alone she should have won

There's no denying that Jessie has talent and that special something but she really needs training before she can take on a leading role. She rightly said herself that she is raw. Her acting needs work and so does her dancing. Sitting on a chair singing does not make her a West End leading lady and I very much doubt whether she could have performed the routines that Jodie & Sam did with their Olivers. Jessie's routine was skilfully choreographed to cover up her weak dancing.

Everyone should hear her ALAHNM on the West End. It was unbelievable. Sent a shiver down my spine.
I'm so gutted for her

I think it would be a farce if Jessie ever gets to play Nancy as that was the whole point of the show. The public got to choose and paid good money on phone calls for the honour of being the judges.

I think to be honest that Cameron Mackingtosh should have not even said who he preferred. It now puts a lot of added pressure on Jodie, who I think will be brilliant,

I wouldn't say that Jessie was clearly made for the role and neither would I say Jessie was robbed. Both girls performed well during the final show and both girls never performed in a sing off which speaks for their talent and their popularity.

Jodie has consistently performed well overall, singing, acting, during the missions etc and I think she is a very deserving Nancy and will play the role fabulously.

Jessie sang well but I was never a fan, she irritated me and couldn't dance/act as well as others. I'm sure Jessie will have a career in the West End especially if ALW and CM have anything to do with it, they certainly weren't shy in declaring their admiration and favouritism for Jessie. As for playing Nancy though, I think Jessie will have to wait until she is older and has matured and lived a little, the public has shown that many people like to see a woman play the role.

Well when they re-locate Oliver to County Clare or Limerick, she will be the first choice

I'm sure Jodie's very competent and all that, but she just doesn't excite me. Yes, she'll do a professional job of it, but I just wouldn't be filled with anticipation to go and see a production whose leading lady is 'consistent' and 'a safe pair of hands.'

I can only trust my gut on this one ... Jodie's performances are enjoyable but I've never felt moved by them. But I've been moved to tears by Jessie. She should have been the star, in my honest opinion.

Good luck to Jodie though - no sour grapes, I'm pretty much a northerner too and can see why she's considered the 'heartwarmer'.

That's precisely the point. Jessie may have been good tonight, but she's been very inconsistent, and hasn't improved or taken direction like the others.

The majority of the public apparently favoured Jodie's consistency over Jessie's sporadic moments of "star quality".

I imagine that both of them will get to play Nancy in the West End, given the way ALW and Cameron feel. I still prefer Jodie's acting over Jessie's rawness any day.

If she was clearly made for it she would have won

Jodie won the contest fair and square and is the worthy winner.

Get over it Jessie came second. She needs to apply again to drama school perhaps this time she just might, might get a place. There is obviously a reason she never got in before.

Does not like criticism and cannot take direction.

She never improved when told by the judges on the show about her weaknesses.

Based on the public vote, they mihght not sell as many seats if Jessie was also playing Nancy. She could possibly come in later (as with connie) but people would not stand for it from the beginning.

but if they had seats they'd be sitting not standing
(sorry, couldn't resist )

I've supported Jessie since day one.

Fact is, she was superb tonight, and in my opinion should have won based on tonight's performances.

Fact also is though that, after a really strong couple of weeks at the start, she had a massive dip where she didn't perform to the same level.

This served to make people notice other things like her difficulties moving, and her accent. I don't really think it's fair to judge acting from what we've seen. Putting together all the clips shown of ANY of the Nancy's acting since day 1 would struggle to make a minute of footage, they simply haven't shown the tasks enough to judge. (Personally I think this is possibly because lots of the nancy's were poor actresses and they didn't want it to look farcical)

Jodie on the other hand, who I don't particularly think is right for the role in my opinion, it can't be argued that she has been consistent - with the occasional excellent moment. There's been far less fluctuation in the standard of her performances and that, in my opinion, won her the role - and fair enough to that.

Fact is, Jessie was lucky to go through last week, she was poor considering it was a semi final, and coupled with her "talkback" to the judges that cost her dear. If she'd pulled out all the stops last week, we could have had a different result tonight.

I think Jodie will learn a lot between now and when Oliver opens, and it will eventually set her up for other roles. I think for Jessie this is probably the best result and once over the disappointment of not winning, may well be much happier with a selection of opportunities that aren't open to Jodie now she's tied to one show for a year or so.

Just my opinion obviously. Personally I love Rowan Atkinson so I was always going to go see the show just for him. And if Burn Gorman gets Bill and Gwion is playing Oliver too, I probably won't take that much notice of who is Nancy!

Drama school is exactly what she needs, and there is no doubt she will get in now (they will be biting her arm off after this show) - in fact ALW and CM will probably arrange it for her. They would have a really hard job in training her for this role, I don't think she could have done it in time quite frankly. But she's only 18 - there's years ahead of her, and I'm sure we'll see her again.
