George and Andrew are kids and Signature are hardly sex gods. So there is no female bias here. Get over it. George won. Escala were overhyped and already had media connections. Faryl is made anyway, Simon will sign her up regardless.

George was one of my faves but I have to admit I was surprised Faryl wasn't there.

So was I. But Im really tired of this whole female voters thing. Its getting ridiculous. Signature were excellent, so were Andrew and George. Faryl and Kate and Gin were also good. It was too close to call.

George was ok, but IMO, he shouldn't of won. Male final is nothing new in shows like this, it will always happen. No doubt a guy will win BB9 as well.

Well, this is just one reason - but I think the other one was the power of sob stories.

If it was a case of women voting with their hormones then i'd have expected Strike and Andrew Muir to be highly placed.

No! I know alot of people who really LOVE signature and George, and that's a total mix of ages and gender. Infact I think it was more boys who were real fans of signature. Also friends are mine who are Indian love the fact signature were using punjabi music in their act, they liked other acts but they are really pleased to see that on a main stream show. So that would have brought alot of voters in.

I think the reason Escala didn't get through is because people saw them as professionals. They are very talented but once the story got out that they were well connected it was highly unlikely that they would win.

Unfourtunatly a lot of male posters chuck out this argument whenever their favourite does not win.

I would have had AJ and Signature as my top two and I've got mostly male hormones to my knowledge, didnt vote though as when I heard some people were continuously ringing up as soon as the lines opened for their fav act seemed a bit pointless to register my measly one vote.
Surely it should be regulated to one vote per phone line or its all a bit meaningless.

It's always a lot of female voters whatever phone in TV show you can think of.

Somebody may have the stats at hand, but I believe that the percentage of women who make up the voting results for any of these shows is about 70%.

If Escala were doing the same act, but they all looked, spoke, and acted like Jade Goody, Kerry Katona, and Nikki from Big Brother, then female voters would make them win by a landslide.

Have to agree. I never expected Escala to win and was surprised they won their semi-final. I don't think they appealed to the general public who vote in these shows. I really thought Faryl had it in the bag though, shocked she didn't even make top 3.

Yes, I really liked them though. I just thought that if Simon would have preferred them to win as suggested by many on here, then he'd need to do a hell of a lot more pushing and hyping.

I don't know if you noticed, but although Simon recently has had praise for some acts, here in the final I found him to be more low key than usual and not as animated and as excited as he usually gets for these shows.
If he would have preferred Escala or Faryl to win then I think that he seriously took his foot off the pedal.

I think the fact that they were professional musicians probably worked against them as well - There's far more incentive to vote for somebody who seems to really need the break.

I was shocked about Faryl too - I expected her to be in the top three instead of Andrew.

The main demographic voters are females aged between 8-15 and many of them vote over and over again.

You may remember when Leona Lewis won X-Factor - Simon Cowell kept pushing the idea that Leona was representing all the young girls dreams.

Limit the voting to 1 call per phone number and it will stop multiple votes and give a true refelction of who is genuinely the winner. It is more than likely that the type of people who voted for Escala were that of middle class groups or the section of society that like classical music, whereas George' appeal would hit the 'honey pot' of voters (around his own age) and the type that would vote religiously as though he was their own boyfriend!
