Well, great result tonight in my opinion. Jodie was the peoples choice, and as we're the ones that pay to go and see these shows, I think we are the best judges.
I thought Jessie was excellent tonight, best I've seen of her in fact, and after CM's blatent favouritism of the girl, do you think there might just be a very large chance that she will be Jodie's understudy. CM will get his way methinks. |

Not if Jessie doesn't want to be the understudy.
If I were her I'd want to be the leading lady not the understudy. |

I thought the understudy had already been picked, with the lady being the mother of one of the oliver auditionees?

I think that rumour was rubbished somewhere. the woman was 42, hardly the teenager they wanted.

jessie can't be understudy to jodie's nancy, they would have to produce two different plays, cameron is going to have to redo his original plans, or stick to them and make it uncomfortable for nancy

She deserved to win. But if she's the understudy I'm sure she'll be better than Jodie. I wanted to see a west end production not a pantomime.

An understudy is an actor already performing a role within the performance who also knows the part of the lead, they only take over at the last minute due to illness or something. For scheduled days off it's an 'alternate' actor who is cast to perform only that role on specific days.

I think Jessie has a very high chance of being the alternate, but we'll have to see if CM is happy enough with rehearsals to have Jodie doing 8 shows.

I do not think it would be fair if any of the girls from the show were her unstudy.
What would be the point in the show then if anyone of the other girls got to play Nancy. |

They have already hired the understudy a while ago.

I think - sadly for Jodie - CM didn't want Jodie more than he DID want Jessie.
I think Rachel/Samantha were his ideal last two. |

Have you got a problem with people wanting to speculate on who that might be? |

yes Jodie won - but she still needs an understudy, and possibly an alternate if she doesn't do all 8 shows.

I think Rachel/Samantha were his ideal last two. The comments from ALW was that they expected Sam and Rachel to go through last week. the leaks were that CM would have saved Rachel too. The tone this week wasn't very pro Sam and it was completely pro Jessie which looks a bit odd if Sam was their best hope last week. There is an argument that Rachel in the final will take traditional Nancy votes from Jodie and Jessie won't share votes with Sam if Sam has gone . At worst you might get Rachel who is safe for the job and at best you would end up with Jessie against Sam who she beat tonight and last week or against Rachel who has been in the bottom two repeatedly and doesn't have much support. That interpretation gets them their Nancy choice and suggests Jodie was the one they least wanted - as indeed they said. The maths though fell apart when they failed to get Rachel into the final even with the best performance of the night and when Jodie turned up with enough votes to get there. |

I am not talking about that article - sorry, i should have said, i have read since then and also heard of a friend that they have cast the understudy. I thik thats prob what they meant by standby - can't remember her name though, someone i've never heard of before.
I thought the dubious article about the 42 year old had been verified. The problem is that Lee Mead has an official understudy (James Bisp) who has never once covered the role because another ADWD finalist always does it, no matter how late notice. If the producers want a Nancy contestant as standby/alternate they will have one. |
