According to my trusty dictionary (Chambers, if anybody wants to check my sources):

1. chuff (intransitive verb): to make a series of puffing sounds, like a steam locomotive does; to move while making such sounds.

2. chuff (noun): a surly or boorish fellow. chuffed (adjective): disgruntled; chuffiness (noun): boorishness; chuffy (adjective): coarse and surly.

3. chuffed (adjective): very pleased.

So, I think we can safely say that CM was a chuff (2) and ALW was also guilty of chuffiness (2), while BH was always chuffy (2). Because although Jessie chuffed (1) on stage, Jodie, in the end, was chuffed (3), as were all her fans.”

I'm so chuffed. This is fab!!!

I'm so glad she didn't say this:

Chuffed: Adj. Pleased, delighted. Compare with 'dischuffed' and 'chuffed to buggery'. E.g."I'm well chuffed at the result." [1950s]

GN: How do you feel about winning Jodie?

Jodie: I'm chuffed to buggery at the result!!!

And I am well chuffed myself that there is a website out there called PEEVISH that celebrates language! Spooky. The website could have been written just for Peeve, as I'm the kind of person who updates my trusty Chambers when a new edition comes out (sad sack that I am), not to mention the thesaurus, Oxford Book of Quotations, etc. I chose my user name because of my initials, honestly!

Thanks for the research!

Chuffing chuff, I've only just watched the chuffing results show (was out last night) and I'm so chuffed!

Jodie's performances gave me goosebumps. She's a worthy winner
