Absolutely....Garland numbers are SO where she excels!

It was patently obvious she was Cameron's as well as ALW's AND BH's choice for Nancy (Cameron said she IS Nancy) so I'm sure she is going to have the part, perhaps not in the West End immediately, but they're not going to let her go.
(Perhaps they might have her perform as Nancy when it's Gwion's turn to be Oliver - that wee boy's eyes were never off her in their duet - a terrific performance.)

Other suggestions of Annie Oakley and Calamity Jane are well within her scope too...I'd love to see her performing "I Can Do anything" with John Barrowman or "Secret Love"!

I agree, I know that Jessie haters are TRYING to be funny but I can see Jessie in many parts which is funny because I believe that many actors only fit one role and then its curtains for them, and always after a certain age.

I think Jessie is a rough diamond but with a little work the flaws can be refined. She will go onto bigger things.

Hello Aoife has a Southern Irish accent and she is a Westend Star.

If there was ever a remake of the Wizard of Oz - Jessie is the girl for that, in terms of looks and the voice.

But also, like Aoife - who is Irish and who came 4th - guess what? she did get the lead roll of Maria after all!! - playing the roll a few days a week - when Connie was on leave .......so, Even though she came 4TH in the TV show - She DID get to play "Maria" in the end !!!!!!!!!!!!!

So, who knows what might happen - I'm sure ALW & CM will look after her - As for JB & DVO..........Hmmmmmm! Wonder did they even talk or be any way nice to her at all after the cameras stopped rolling!!!!!!!!!!

Also completly agree with an earlier post - Jessie performance with Gwion was just so brilliantly done, acted and sung - Well done Jessie & Gwion!

There's no reason why Calamity Jane couldn't have been Irish. If you take a look at parish registers at the time ....

HardyLane wasn't saying she couldn't be a star but that she needed training to help her with accents- Aoife doesn't sound Irish when she sings or acts on stage even if she retains her accent off stage- say with all Scottish/ Irish/ English actors when they are in role.

Jessie needs training and then she will be a more complete package and then she can do any show she wants

You almost make it out to be a bad thing thats she Irish, she will learn accents apropriate to the part she is given in time. Its not always the english accent thats essential to a part.

No- reread what I said again-- I included English in the list as they have to learn accents also. I love the Irish accent but it is not appropriate for all parts so Jessie needs to learn how to speak in different accents- would you only like her to be type-cast as an Irish person always?

There are several people on the forum that think that just because people are saying that Jessie needs to train and lose her accent where applicable that there is underlying racism- well its not true in my case- I just see lots of actors who can't do accents and are ridiculed for that- would you like that to happen to Jessie.

I see your point, she does need training in different accents but the otheir stuff she is brillant in, which she showed last night. I would hate to think people are prejudiced against her because she's Irish after all most of your well know t.v. host are Irish.

I agree with you entirely and I think that most people would- but with the training she can knock any doubters out of the water- and more importantly any critics- when she was so devasted last night I was pleased that she would have more time to build herself up and start off on a long career

I agree a period in drama school is what Jessie needs. I do think she has star quality but it's way too raw right now. If she'd had Sam's background in a top stage school I think CM might have got the Nancy he wanted for his 'darker' production of Oliver.

Many successful and acclaimed actors started out with regional accents and have learned to 'lose' them when they need to.

As much as I would like that to happen, I don't think they should, or would. The backlash from the media would be incredible, I don't think they'd take that risk. if they ever want to do any shows like this ever again in the future, they would have lost all credibility.

I think there would be questions even if Jessie stepped in for some performances after a few months, or if she took the role after Jodie's contract had ended. I can't imagine the media looking too favourably upon any of these things.

I agree I would worry about a backlash too. However I think it is criminal that we will never see Jessie as Nancy

I'm a bit confused but did'nt Aoife take on the role of Maria in the Sound of Music when connie was out. and i did'nt hear anything about the media getting upset so i think Jessie should definitly play the part when Jodie's not available.

I would like to see her perform in a couple of years, after she has had some SERIOUS training.

True, but that's kinda different. Aoife came fourth, and she was kicked out at the hands of ALW. Jessie, on the other hand...ALW and CamMac made it perfectly clear they wanted Jessie as their Nancy, which is where the issue would stem from I think.

I can see her take the part of a desperate woman who keeps saying she'll learn off the advice she's given, but keeps making the same mistakes over and over.

Might be typecasting though...
