Watching Jessie dissolve into tears like it was the end of the world last night... I really wanted to take her aside for five minutes and explain a bit about the reality of life and these situations !!! Some examples follow......

Living in Dublin, about five years ago, we had our own version of POPSTARS...it went on for weeks as usual until the final band was picked... and then lo and behold one of the girls who actually made the band, was caught out lying about her age... (she was too young to have qualified to enter the thing at all ). She was duly dumped and replaced by another... Where is that band today.... well no where is the answer.... and where is the girl who they had to dump ...... well that would be Nadine Coyle, who kind of went on to better things !!!!! Who knew... when she was filmed sobbing in the back of a taxi as she left the house the group were staying at... what lay ahead !. Somewhere out there the universe has a way of separating the exceptional ones... and making sure they get their day, one way or another.

The five dejected contestants that were not seen as good enough to be right for a band, according to Nigel Lythgoe....yet Hear'Say were.......... Liberty X ended up trouncing them in the charts and having a more successful career in the long run.

Last night.... Britain's Got Talent... a nice enough lad who has some pretty nifty moves in the rain is now going to be on the Royal Variety Performance in front of Charles.... well enjoy it George... its the first and last time anyone will see you on anything..... Faryl Smith on the other hand... who didnt even make the last three... will be a superstar.

As for Jodie and Jessie.........when two of the greatest theatrical producers in the world are aiming their sights on Jessie, and Jodie ends up winning the prize (backed by John Barrowman and Denise Van Outen, well... the pedigree there is staggering).....one can smile inwardly and know that Jessie's journey is only beginning, if she only knew it. And when Jodie's name has faded from memory, (as it will!!).....it will be Jessie's career we follow with interest for many years to come.

Yes I agree, she seems very serious about her career for someone of eighteen.
She knew what she wanted and went for it and even if she didn't win, I'm sure she'll be alright. After all she came in second. That has got to be a plus.
CM wanted her over Jodie. Kind of a kick in teeth for poor Jodie though.

Hurrah! Another pro-[finalist] post that doesn't seem to be able to praise on person without attacking another.
Katie.

Stop being a sore loser please. Jessie is fantastic and no doubt the girls got an amazing talent, and she will go far, but to belittle Jodie so you can praise Jessie to the high heavens is really low, one of the shittiest posts I've seen on this forum so far.

Jodie won. Get over it.

I think you forget......they have both won............Jessie will get what she needs to make her better...........Jodie got crowned Nancy.......a public vote.......thats who they wanted..............deal with it.

Im sure Jessie and Sam along with a few others will have a great career, but to belittle the winner........im sure Jessie and Sam would be ashamed.

Also - do we have to call Jessie/Sam a 'loser' ... runner-up is much nicer. They didn't win the role but they are anything but losers - and in time I am sure they will forge a career of their own, using IDA as a springboard ....

I agree Jodie was the public choice so they are happy and Jessie will get the support of CM and ALW.

They will all be winners!!

I genuinely think they're both winners. Actually, I think poor Sam got the roughest deal yesterday.

Jodie--WON! She gets the dream part. And she deserved it. Therefore WINNER
Jessie--gave a number of truly sensational performances which will help her career, she will be remembered for them if she doesn't get offered something immediately. Therefore WINNER

It's like the same as Rachel leaving last week--she went out on that performance of Cabaret, she'll be remembered for that. Therefore WINNER

I actually feel for Samantha as I don't think she'll get the same level of exposure the other "losers" did and because she's performed better in earlier weeks than she did last night. Which I don't think is very fair on Sam, as she's very talented. Hopefully though, she'll have spoken to some very important people in her chosen area and I think if she ever decided to go into pop, she'd be signed in seconds. Therefore WINNER

The one good thing about these kind of shows is that because all the contestants are bloody talented (unlike some of the other singing reality shows), and if they perform well and behave well, they've got the springboard into their future career. Therefore ALL WINNERS

You have a good point, but that is overshadowed by the offensive title of your post

What an unpleasant and unnecessary comment

Actually, the whole of the last paragraph rather sours the rest of the post, in which some valid points were made. Jessie, almost certainly, is only just beginning a career that should see her realise her dreams. I don't hink she needed the win to make her career, whereas I think Jodie needed it more. You're right - the runners up on these shows do often go on to as big, if not bigger things than the winners. It's just a shame that you couldn't make your point without resorting to denigrating Jessie's rival.

You're a nice person aren't you? We get it, you prefer Jessie but why be so horrible about Jodie? Is it too hard for you to just wish all of the girls good luck?

Can I just mention some winners who have done quite well for themselves(you seem to have forgotten) Lee Mead, Connie Fisher, Paul Potts, Leonna Lewis, Shane Ward, Will Young.

Jodie might or may not fade into obscurity when she finishes Oliver Twist, she may get something in Chicago but she could become another Mark Lester

True but how many of them are actually really good, Will Young deft is and I quite like Connie Fisher, guess Shayne Ward is ok don't get me started on Paul Potts or Leona Lewis though and Lee Mead well Keith should have won Joseph

i totally agree. this is not a leading role, but one that could launch a career. still, a few of those girls will get leads, and perhaps were put off in order to be placed in a meatier role.

You don't move on quickly dear, do you? Try to get over it, it's easier for your stress levels in the long run.

Not in the film he didn't. He was dubbed - picked purely on looks.

You neglect to say that Coyle and her family, who assisted with the whole pathetic "lost passport" facade, came off very badly on the show and quite rightly.
