so true and this also happened in My Fair Lady... Julie Andrews lost the part to Audrey Hepburn and Audrey's singing was dubbed by someone else the whole movie.

I agree with smeagy's post earlier about how they will all be winners in the end. Each and every one in the final 12 did amazing to get where they did and what could be better exposure for them than a prime time reality tv contest.
From my point of view as a Jessie fan, she's been incredibly lucky to get to where she was. She didn't get into drama school and was in London at just the right time for the auditions. She's only 18 and has shown off her talent and has got the backing of big people.
Although I would have liked to see her win for winnings sake, I'm sure she will be Nancy one day, it seems to be in her to play Nancy. I was completely gutted for her but what's more important is not what happens but how you react to it and I know she will bounce back.
Aside from this, congrats to Jodie is in order, could there be a more wacky, loveable, crazy, warm, hilarious winner?! The girl done good.

Mark Lester was the original Oliver in the film.
He did little after that.

No apparent connection with Jodie whatsoever!

Jodie will always be known - until she perhaps diversifies - as the Nancy-winner.Who knows about Jessie? All mere speculation.

But Jodie's place is secure.

I hate to break this to you. But Jodie won last night. She was better than Jessie, that's why the public chose her.

Jodie IS playing Nancy. Not Jessie.

A little subjective surely? She was more popular. Not necessarily better. She appealed to more voters. Sorry for being pedantic.

Of the Nancy's they had left Jodie was probably the most ready at that stage but it was a poor bunch to choose from. Jodie as well did not met Camerons remit for the part. The new version of Oliver was meant to bring a new slant to it, instead they have a very tradditional Nancy. How they get Jodie to fit the remit of the show I dont know as she is a very long way from what they were looking for. They also stressed this was mainly an acting role and again Jodie is very weak with acting.

It seems they are already concerned as they have already reduced the Nancy role from 8 performances a week to 4 an to altering the script to reduce the role of Nncy. Seems they have there doubts about Jodie.

Bob, you'll be delighted to hear that as soon as Jodie was confirmed the winner, they've increased the guaranteed shows for the winning Nancy to 6 per week. Clearly they were never worried about HER ability then.

"As performances do not commence until 12 December, there is not a fully confirmed performance schedule for Nancy and Oliver. Due to licensing issues, it will not be decided which Oliver will perform until shortly before the performance starts. Sickness and holiday permitting, Jodie Prenger is scheduled to perform on Monday and Tuesday evenings, Wednesday matinees and Friday evenings and both Saturday Shows. Until the show opens in December, the Producers cannot make a final decision on any additonal performances. "

Urgh ... this had already been put onto the Oliver website PRIOR to any of the three winning - so it has very little to do with Jodie ... and you have no basis of foundation for the 'they have reduced the role' ...

Okay so they have ended up with a more traditional Nancy, but with all due respect Jodie did very well in the acting missions.

It all just gets so spiteful ....

Fantastic news.

Can people just stop being so vindictive against Jodie ...

If your favourite didn't win then go and support them in whatever they do next ... and let Jodie get on with playing the role she won and is now going to be doing 6 times a week

I agree that quite often the runners up do really well too.
Look at Ben-James Ellis in Hairspray and Daniel Boys in Avenue Q. Both very substantial (if not leading) roles.

One minor point - if Jodie didn't fit Cameron's remit - why did they put her into the Top 12? She wasn't the only larger lady either was she?

Daniel's role in Ave Q is the male lead ... Ben's the juvenile lead in Hairspray.

Both very talented guys doing brilliantly.

This is not alawys true.

Will Young won but where is Gareth Gates now? Lee Mead won, and he has the best WE job (though Daniel is a close second). ABBA won didn't they? And Leona Lewis?

In other words, for however many you can find who lost and still won out, there are even more who have won and made good.
