Pedantic Post #378. - That was a Sid Vicious solo single.

I'll go for
"Too Drunk To F**K" - Dead Kennedys.

Yeah, the unforgiveable Will Young version which everybody around my area harped on about being a "new take" on the track with its acoustic guitrars, yet seemed to overlook the Jose Feliciano version of the track from the late 1960s which is virtually identical to the arrangement of the Will Young cover. Hardly original.

Darkjedimaster, you have a strangely identical taste in music to myself. I am very impressed with your suggestions of Godley and Creme and Extreme.

I think Godley & Creme's "Cry" should be given another shot on the charts - especially because of the video, which to be honest is still far more interesting to watch than a lot of the crappy ones out there at the moment. I'm all for dancing girls but really, what happened to releasing groundbreaking videos?

Thanks tortfeasor, even thou I am mainly a rock fan there were some classic songs in the past like 10cc & Godley n Creme.

I must admit I cannot remember the music video to Cry but do remember the spooky lyrics to "Under Your Thumb".

Steely Dan - Do It Again - only just got inside the top 40 at number 39! Probably their best known song to the casual listener I would say - again, huge in America.
.”

You mention two Steely Dan songs, I thought 'Dirty Work' would get downloaded a few times after the film about New York Cosmos soccer team, which was shown on BBC about a year ago.
Another song from that film which seems to have enjoyed some success is 'Les Fleur' by Minnie Ripperton. Over the last few months, I have heard it used as a speech 'bed' by The One Show, TalkSport Radio and a local radio station in Stockport. It's a great song that works up to a thrilling crescendo, it will probably never chart, but I think a few people will hear it as backing music and think 'hmm, that sounds good'.

Damn this thread! It encouraged me to look for this on ITunes and download it, now I can't stop listening to it!
It takes me right back to sitting in the garden just after we'd broken up from school for the big holiday in 1992, a blisteringly hot day after a horrible year, and I could see all this wonderful non-school time stretching ahead of me... and drifting over from another garden's radio, I could hear this song... a lovely memory.
