I thought the DS comments about their album, "Dreaming Out Loud", were way too harsh! There are some great songs on there...

I agree about the comments on DS being overly harsh. The reviews for the singles and the album really lay into them. Dreaming Out Loud is one of the few albums I can honestly say I like every track. Like any group they have some tracks that are slower, and others that are much more upbeat, so I don't see how they can be called lifeless. Indeed some of their tracks are anthemic, perfect for arena audiences. Certainly not what I'd call lifeless.

I appreciate people have different tastes but this from the single review of Apologize from last year -

Timba' tries his hardest, bless him, to gift the trad-rockers a bit of belly and clout, offering up the mixture of layered production and measured beats that helped turn Nelly Furtado back into the pop-temptress that we all loved back in her flying like a bird days. But it's not enough to save this load of codswallop from the dustbin.
which of course was a mega-hit around the world, and received over 50 million hits on YouTube, perhaps suggests DS are in the minority when it comes to OneRepublic?

i hate like the reviews on DS. Mainly because i have never once agreed with one they are so harsh (only giving mariah 2 stars when every other reviewer says its the best on the album )

I love Stop and Stare and Say (all i need) but i have yet to hear the album. Is it worth buying on the strength of those 2 tracks?

I'd say it's worth buying. Dreaming Out Loud isn't one of those albums where the singles are the only decent songs. It has lots of strong tracks, including 'All We Are', which I personally feel is one of the strongest on the album - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KWZ4D-0W0FM

If you're still uncertain, get out a few more album tracks on YouTube. Most of them are there.
