Chinese packet noodles are usually much better than UK brands of the same thing. And much cheaper.

I have been a fan of Heinz low-cal beans for many years... there were none in stock so I got Tesco's own brand. Delicious. Will not be going back to Heinz now... and save myself some pennies too.

I assume this only applies to 'lo cal', I have never found any other brand of baked beans to be as good as heinz.

I prefer the cheapo weetabix, and tesco finest instant coffee, if that counts. Other than that I tend to steer clear of pauper food.

I used to drink cheap Tesco cola rather than the more dear Coca-Cola! It had more taste to it.

But I avoid fizzy drinks now.

Well you'd be surprised who makes a lot of this "pauper" food, I know tayto makes crisps for tesco and boots!

Neither had I - I have never liked any baked beans but Heinz (when I was a child I wouldn't eat anything else but beans for about a year... seriously hooked). But there is something nice about the Tescos low-cal ones...

Tesco Value version of After Eights - definitely nicer than the "real thing". They're a bit thicker too, so you get more in a bite! About 75p a box.

After spending lots of money on buying Magnum ice-creams for years I have now discovered Somerfield's Milk Choc Ices. 96p for 10 and they're delicious.

I believe this to be a concocted story of unfactual information. I have just looked online and it's 23p for 100g (there's no 500g listed).

Most of the shops own brand Weetabix are Weetabix, it's only the very very cheap version that isn't.

Having worked in packing industry and seeing the same products going into different wrappers has helped me in knowing which are the branded goods in different clothes.

They're pretty good, though the dark choc and mint can be a bit sickly if you try and eat the whole 200g bar in one go.
