Anyone else on Digital ever took on themselves to record/collect every episode of a TV Series (you can't get on DVD). Be it on DVD-R,VHS or whatever

I ask because it's kind of my hobby. Next Saturday I'll get and finish the last 2 Mythbusters episodes I need to complete the set. I just finished Fairly Odd Parents last week. Going back I collected did my own set of Aaah Real Monsters and Rocko's Modern Life. I do TV Burp, QI and The Simpsons as well.
I used to do Brainiac but got bored with so won't do any more future series of that. I've got all the crytal maze episodes par 1! was nearly there but now Challange have stopped airing it expect weekends.

I always have to be collecting something. Just to feel normal. It's a drug

I HAVE THAT ONE! I'm missing Series 6 Episode 8, also about 1 mintue in the middle of series 2 episode 13 (thunder storm and picture cut out).

Like I say its basically my hobby very obessive over it. So I have episode guides for everything. Stuff isn't always shown in proper running order so record them tick off my list. Keep everything on my hard drive until I've got everything then re-burn them back onto discs (in correct episode running order)

I recorded all of Father Ted and One Foot in the Grave on VHS. Even though I was away at university for most of their respective original runs.

Still kept the original VHS recordings even though I have both box sets on DVD now.

Over the years, I made extensive recordings of the Fools and Horses specials and selected Monty Python's Flying Circus eps, but the Beeb only ever seemed to repeat from s1 and s2 in the late 80s/early 90s.

Finally got the full set of Flying Circus episodes on DVD last Christmas, many of which I'd never seen before...

I have every episode of Neon Genesis Evangelion, Martian Successor Nadesico (both of which I stayed up until 4am to record), and The League of Gentlemen.

I have the first 4 seasons of South Park on VHS as well. We moved when series 5 was on and I couldn't get a decent picture of Channel 4.

I've got a lot of Dads Army and Only Fools and Horses, but not the whole set.

Since 1981 I've collected series from UK tv aswell as accessing a lot of stuff via contacts in Australia.

10 years ago my VHS archive of unreleased material was huge.

If somone had told me then the series that would become available on dvd I would have laughed.

But they have.

Thanks to US and Australian dvd my collection is almost replaced.

Key series I have that remain unavailable on dvd are:

Grange Hill - vhs/dvd every episode (recorded off air from 1990 onwards)

The Fantastic journey-vhs (Bravo)

Logans Run-dvd (SF channel)

Ghost Story/Circle of Fear-vhs (SF channel)

Doomwatch -vhs(UK Gold)

Voyage/Bottom/Sea -vhs(C4) - only have s4 from C4 as s1-3 on R1

Lots of Dr Who-vhs/dvd (UK Gold)

Batman on dvd (FX)

Just Good Friends s3 -dvd (UK Drama)

Marine Boy -dvd (ebay)

Incredibly most of the kids series I acquired over the years like Ace of Wands,Robinson Crusoe and Timeslip have been released

My dvd collection of tv shows runs into the hundreds

Fantastic.

I have every episode of Cagney & Lacey on VHS. That includes the pilot movie - every single episode and all four movies. All recorded from the BBC when they originally aired.

I also have access (they are in a friends loft) to every single episode of Sons & Daughters & Prisoner Cell Block H. Both on VHS. Well over 200 tapes. Numbered thankfully.

No idea why I keep them as I am not likely to trawl through them all.

If a show comes out on dvd I have to replace it.

Those hundreds of Little House on The Prairie and Irwin Allen shows took years of sitting there while they were on editing the ads out.

I was so happy I didnt follow Cell Block H as I would have had to buy the massive DVD release of the whole series that came out in Australia last year or the year before

I forgot:

The Brothers.

90+ episodes recorded from UK Gold who eventually hid it away with a single Friday morning 9.30 broadcast which made it awkward to get at all let alone being there to edit ads.

The wife edited a lot of those.

I copied the tapes to dvd to save space

I think there is only one thing I recorded most episodes of and I know there were 100 episodes made in total and that was Disney's Duck Tales which I recorded from CITV

I am going to buy those dvd's of PCBH from Australia Dennis. People think I'm mad. (which I probably am a little) but at least I can get rid of the tapes.

Also, like you I too edited out the ads and PCBH was on at 11.40PM. I had to get the remaining eps (after ITV dropped it) from Channel 5 and that was on at 4.40AM.

It's nice to meet someone as like minded. Most think I am a little around the bend. (and I couldn't care less)

I have all the episodes of I'm A Celebrity from 2006 on DVD (bar the first few episodes), and a few of the ITV2 show from that year.

I never watch them anymore, but can't bring myself to delete them for some silly reason.

Because of your undying love for Dean Gaffney.

Lots. How I look back and laugh at the well-meaning people who told my parents not to buy us a VCR as we'd use it for a week then forget about it!

I have/had:
Moonlighting
Remington Steele
The Upper Hand
The House of Eliott
Press Gang
The X-Files
Dempsey and Makepeace

I also have lots of years/ episodes of many other shows. (eg 3 years of Going Live! and 4 season of Beverly Hills 90210 before it - for me - became crap...or crapper.)

I have pretty much every episode of The Colbert Report dating back to when it started in late 2005. That's the only one I can think of where buying DVDs would be impossible.

I recorded all of seasons 2-5 of Larry Sanders from ITV4 a couple of years ago. (I have season 1 on DVD)

Between TMF and ITV3 I now have every episode of The Wonder Years.

I am attempting to archive every episode of Batman from BBC4.

Whether I would replace them with DVD releases is debatable, as I am cutting down on the DVD purchases these days.
