Because not everything is available as it should be. There are lots of shows to be enjoyed over and over again and that the BBC keep hidden, that's why it was important to have saved those shows for posterity

I'll say what I wish I HAD recorded, Crown Court. Unfortunately, some of it pre-dated video recorders and when they did come out I was too busy during the day to record them! I've got what's available on DVD which is a mere fraction of what was aired.

I have Only Fools and Horses, One Foot in the Grave, Keeping up Appearances, Steptoe & Son, Little Britain, Catherine Tate Show and Sex and the City. Quite a variety, complete collections some either box sets or indivually bought DVDs

I wish I'd recorded every episode of Game On, because I'm sure I would have found time to watch all those again, especially the ones with Neil Stuke, who I thought was much better than Ben Chaplin. I think I might have to download a copy of Where I Find My Heaven, by Gigolo Aunts, just for old time's sake.”

Because we like collecting them. Whats the point in collecting HIGNFY when its repeated on tv anyway? Well for one maybe its on when they dont have time to watch it and plus its a convenience we can watch it when we like,.

I used to tape HIGNFY when Angus was the host, for me it was better then than it is now. These episodes aren't repeated on Dave, it's only ones from the last couple of years. And things like this won't ever be released on dvd so it's nice to have them. I really need to put them on disc but haven't got the means at the moment, plus they've deteriorated a bit!

I used to tape Whose Line is it Anyway? and Fantasy Football League as well.

Yes. I have to keep all the tapes in Berkshire.

Not a warehouse in Berkshire. Berkshire itself.

Loads:
I have literally about 800 DVD-R's full of SD recordings from the last 12 years plus whatever repeats have been aired.
So many I forget, also have an insane collection of legitimate DVD series, You can find some good stuff for like £2 a series in your local Crackconvertors (Cash Convertors lol)
I got Coupling recently all 4 series for £8 in great condition, Green Wing Definitive edition for £4

All five series of The Incredible Hulk, from the 70s and early 80s. Some brilliant episodes and scenes, in between the dross and clichés.

Also, all the series of The Professionals, included the racial-themed Klansman episode, which was deemed too potentially inflammatory to show in 1978, and which was pretty brilliant, with good points to make about racial issues.

Did you tape those on vhs back in the day? Must have been the earliest machines

All of the surviving episodes of The Avengers from Ian Hendry through to Linda Thorson (not The New Avemgers though - can't stand Joanna Lumley), most of the ITC output from the 60s and early 70s, the Adam West 60s Batman series.

Im the same.

There is only so much official companies will release so you have to end up recording stuff off the telly yourself that you know will never see the light of day of a commercial dvd release.

Think mine clocked up to 3000 DVD-R's.

While if a official release arrives Ill buy it and ditch the DVD-R but there is plenty that hasent got a release.

Too true. Tracking some of these shows down is the hard part.

Bought them on DVD. People had video recorders from the late 70s, but we didn't get one until 1985.

Yeah, my dad had a Toshiba by the mid 80's and got some good stuff on tape, loads of it has been taped over now, but not all.

The biggest thing that pisses me off with a lot of these shows that have been released is the insane amounts of edits they feel they have to use and they give some crap about contractional reasons on the back of the DVd.

Sorry but when I want to watch a show I want to watch it as it was originally intended when it aired.

Yes some people say why keep stuff you record on the telly well I cant imagine seeing the BBC releasing the entire works of Kenny Everett or Smith & Jones even though thats what the fans want.

Yes some shows are just hard to track down. In fact when I first tryed to track a particular show back in 1994 only last year in 2013 did I finally get hold of the program. I had spend a 13 year search on the internet searching for it and only recently did all the asking and putting wanted messages up did I finally get hold of the show.

I've got every episode of Lovejoy, Minder, Larry Sanders, Dads Army, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Thunderbirds, Captain Scarlet, UFO, Lewis, Endeavour, The Good Wife, Strike Back, 24, modern era Doctor Who, and some more I can't remember on a big NAS in my loft largely seldom watched but nice to know they're there.

Shows that perseverance pays off I guess. I have been some shows for about as long

The BBC are utter hounds in terms of what they hold back from us even though we are licence fee payers

Well it wasent a BBC show it was a ITV show.

I remember for years longing to get the full series of Max Headroom after I lost my betamax tape but in the end I found it.

What we do need is a full series of Grandad getting a dvd release.

Sometimes, shows just fall into your lap, you'll be chatting to someone who casually mentions they have them, not realizing that you have been after them FOR YEARS

For instance, I was after some episodes of the 11 O'clock Show but could not see hide nor hair of them online at all, then suddenly, I stumble upon some guy on a forum who has a whole trove of them - bobs your uncle.

Hopefully this will happen with They Think It's All Over and the 2 Fantasy Football episodes I need.

Yeah I know that was lucky.

UKnova used to be at one time a massive help at watching classic old shows not avaliable anywhere but sadly its no more.

Just think if we didnt have people to share and keep stuff we probably wouldnt have gotten Web of Fear back by now.

Without these collectors I would probably not gotten every single episode of WWE Raw but am a proud owner of all 1091 episodes.

I was just wondering if anyone on here ever recorded episodes of Coming Up - in particular I am looking for the episode Money Can Buy You Love which stars Sophia Myles it aired on Channel 4 2003 ... If not, does anyone know of any good places that may sell recordings of rare TV shows?

HUGE thanks in advance if anyone can help me out! Been searching on and off for this for years!
