Anyone else on Digital ever took on themselves to record/collect every episode of a TV Series (you can't get on DVD). Be it on DVD-R,VHS or whatever

I ask because it's kind of my hobby. Next Saturday I'll get and finish the last 2 Mythbusters episodes I need to complete the set. I just finished Fairly Odd Parents last week. Going back I collected did my own set of Aaah Real Monsters and Rocko's Modern Life. I do TV Burp, QI and The Simpsons as well.
I used to do Brainiac but got bored with so won't do any more future series of that. I've got all the crytal maze episodes par 1! was nearly there but now Challange have stopped airing it expect weekends.

I always have to be collecting something. Just to feel normal. It's a drug
i have every Stargate Episode - some 17 years worth, all of Star Trek TOS and TNG - All of Numb3rs, Hustle.

I've also got all of Star Cops - but that only ran for 1 season - be good to see something like that now since the FX on the original really date.

I have every episode of the West Wing and I had the whole of Due South on videotapes, then I bought a boxed set to save space. I think I have the whole of Ballykissangel as well.

I collected every episode of Friends on VHS

Literally as I was collecting series 10 VHS went out of fashion and dvd came in

I got these videos for Birthday and CHRISTMAS presents for like 5 years

I spent loads of my own money on them too

And as soon as I had the complete collection they became obsolete

Bad times

Kinda wish I had kept my Filthy Rich Catflap episodes as the shoddy BBC release is terrible.

some impressive posts on here.

I recorded a lot of movies, and dubbed them to DVD. Also quite a lot of sporting events. The only series I really have, is every episode of the wire, and I have never watched a single one!

I got quite a lot of merlin, and the Dr Who reboot - before giving on up them. Again, I don't think I have rewatched any of them.

now radio shows. I used to have a few odd recordings of radioactive, and the grumbleweeds, but I would absolutely love to have full sets of those two. They wouldn't air the Grumbleweeds now, as one of the characters was always doing Jimmy Savile impressions.
I have quite a few episodes of Radioactive transferred from tape to cd. Hasnt aged at all, unlike Dead Ringers which although good at the time (ON RADIO) was too dependant on topicality. Although i wish i didnt now have their impression of William Hague singing Nelly Furtado running around my head....q

Does collecting a show on TV count or does it have to be original recorded shows off the telly?

Fascinating thread. Really interesting to read what people put so much effort into to build up a collection of.

Leaving aside all collections that can be purchased in shops, as there's far too many for me to list, there have only ever really been two shows I've put the effort in to try and build up a complete collection of.

The first being The Bill - It was fairly late on in the show's run when I started collecting these, around the summer of 2006, but thanks to the likes of Gold, Alibi, Watch and Drama, I managed to build up a substantial collection of the later years. By the time the programme finished though, it was pretty obvious that nobody was going to rewind and do a complete run of the show from the start again so I'd pretty much lost hope by that point. Thanks to the DVD sets though, I've now managed to replace the versions I'd recorded with the sets purchased online and complete the collection. Luckily, I also had the four episodes not available on the DVD sets from my own personal recordings so finally have a full collection!

Second, and on a bigger scale, is Coronation Street - I currently have every episode of the programme from 5th April 1976 right through to the present day - bar one episode from 2002! All now on DVD. It occurred to me when finding this thread that in exactly a month's time it will be exactly forty years worth of episodes (bar the one of course!).

I like the simplicity of collecting the long running programmes though. It becomes a habit due to the routine of the schedules and I like the idea of being able to dip into a point in the past and go back. With ongoing serials as well, you're never really in danger of wondering what to move onto when you complete the collection as the show just keeps on going.

Did anyone see the (possibly a repeat) programme about Bob Monkhouse recently. He had a recording obsession, and according to his daughter had a VHS recorder in every room. He would interrupt conversations to go reset them, and had so many tapes he built an extension to house them. Many tapes of programmes that had originally been wiped by the TV companies, and so forth. I wonder what became of the collection?

Exactly the same happened to me.
£12.99 a video, 4 episodes a tape. That's almost 80 quid a season!

Nope I've never collected all episodes of a TV show and I've no intention of doing so.
