I'm seriously trying to get all episodes of Have I Got News For You but it is an nightmare finding the older ones!

I used to collect loads of TV episodes but then I thought "will I ever watch these again" and soon just gave up!

I used to tape programmes when I was younger, such as Recess and My Parents Are Aliens just to have tapes of those to watch. At the minute we are taping Doctor Who so we can watch it all again before the DVD comes out (as its expensive to buy the episodes seperatley).

I have all the episodes of Men Behaving Badly and The Simpsons, as well as The Young Ones.

This smacks of OCD...but if so, I admit to being a sufferer as well!

Brimstone
Third Watch
Jake 2.0
Every Match of the Day / World Cup / Euros / England Friendlies / Football Focus / On The Ball / Carling Cup Highlights / Champions League Weekly + Highlights - Since 1996
Every NFL programme ever broadcast in the UK since 1998 (most on video - taking me an eternity to shift over to DVD!)
Line of Fire
C-16
Medical Investigations
Air Crash Investigations
Mega Disasters
Mayday
DeRail
ReGenesis (S2)
The Ghost Squad
Cold Case
LA Law
The Practice
And more I can't remember

Plus all the programmes I record on Sky+ then to my DVD HDD before saving to DVD+RW until the boxset comes out for;

CSI / Miami / NY
Law & Order / CI / SVU
Doctor Who (Classic & New)
Bones
Nip/Tuck
The Fugitive (new version)
Terminator: TSCC
Criminal Minds
Headcases
Smallville
Dexter
Without a Trace
ER
Torchwood
And more I can't remember!

Major League Baseball on 5 (have to admit I only record this, watch it then re-use the DVD - currently up to the play offs in 2004)
Superleague (rugby league) - same as above. Just finishing off week 26 of the 2004 season on video...

And no, I rarely if ever watch them again. It's a VERY expensive habit I really should seek help for !!

Rising Damp
Porridge
Gladiators
The Crystal Maze

I recorded all of Dallas on VHS when UKgold first started. That's all 14 seasons.
I know, I`m really sad, I`ve still got all the tapes, strange thing is I hardly ever get time to watch them, but can dip into any season when I feel like it.

I have started to buy it now the DVDs have come out.

If I buy it all, what will I do with the 70 odd 3hr VHS tapes?

Am I the saddest on here? Or what.

I myself record everything to straight to DVD now. Everything from my old VHS archive has now either had a proper DVD release or I transfered it to DVD.

and i'll admit one thing. Yes I enjoy lots of TV shows but it's more the kick of doing it more than anything for me. That and you can dip in and watch any episode whenever you feel like it.

I used to think I was the only one that recored everything (with my Archos AV500 so it recorded content into DivX format and I archived it on my 300GB HDD) but it seems I am not!

I'm always interested what programmes people record, it takes too much effort for me to do it, I tried it with Neighbours and gave up pretty quickly!

Does anyone record or has recorded all episodes of a non-fiction series, like Property Ladder, Location x 3, etc?

I've done all the Mythbusters that's a American series on Discovery Channel. (Well the last 2 I need air this coming Saturday) Don't think that's what you mean though. It's mainly sitcoms or Cartoon series I collect though.

Footnote on Mythbusters, season 5 has been sent to a company to have subtitles added to it, I delivered the tapes last week.

Back on topic.

I had many shows on video but when DVD came up I replaced them all which cost me a fortune.

I do hold entire collections of many shows on dvd, Stargate SG1, Blakes 7, several of Gerry Andersons shows, CSI, Star Trek Original, TNG and the animated series plus lots of old 70's childrens shows.

I have much more, but it gives me a headache just thinking of my entire collection.

Only show i have recorded onto DVD is Malcolm in the Middle as they only released Season 1 on Region 1. I have virtually all the episodes seeing as Sky One regularly show it, but i think i am missing a couple of eps, perhaps i missed them myself or Sky decided to skip them, this was over Christmas and first few months of this year, notably the episode where Hal tries out race-walking.

With them being on at 6.30 each day, i shall have to double check that i have every episode of this fantastic show!

Sounds like my collection.

I cant even remember which series I have when it comes to some of the more obscure.

I got complete boxsets of Land of the Giants and The Man From Uncle last year from the US and I've not watched a single episode of either yet .

Whats even sadder is that most LOTG are repetitive junk and I'm likely to only ever watch a dozen or so.

But if its out there I have to get it

Its just nice to have them.

Well reading this thread made me feel a lot better about my weird recording habits... turns out they arent so weird!!!

I have every Diagnosis Murder including the original first 2 and the tv feature length specials that where out after the last series and I have taken to recording Murder 101 as well.

I also recorded all of Dirty Sexy Money and sat down and watched them all in one day.

So on DVD I have:
Diagnosis Murder
Dirty Sexy Money
The OC
Home and Away (I watch it online at Oz pace but still record it from the TV... please dont ask why since I have no idea!)
Dallas
Russell Brands Ponderland
Scrubs
Desperate Housewives
Ugly Betty
Hollyoaks (though Ive taken to just deleting that once Ive watched it)
Still Game
and I also record some films but I rarely watch them again but for some reason I keep them all

I also have some stuff on VHS as well...
Only Fools and Horse...all the Christmas Specials which I also bought on DVD but cant seem to bring myself to get rid of the tapes
One Foot in the Grave
The Upper Hand

Out of everything Ive recorded the only things Ive watched more than once is Diagnosis Murder and Still Game... and I used to watched Only Fools and One Foot in the Grave over and over again but the tape sounded it was about to snap so I gave in and bought the DVDs.

What a relief to read this thread! I thought I was the only person who did things like this! I've got a lot of old Emmerdale episodes, and was a bit embarrassed to admit it, but now I know I'm in good company!!!

I'd love to be able to tape The Adventure Game, a BBC show from the '80s.

"Challenge" showed series 3 (I think) a few years ago, but I was told at the time that series 1 and 2 would never be shown as a number of episodes had been lost by the BBC and it was policy at the time of not showing series that had missing episodes.

You're certainly not the only one - there are also a number of current series I'm recording to save money and shelf space on DVD sets. I record them to the PC, edit the adverts, encode them to Xvid then store them on a NAS device. I can then watch them on the main TV via a Philips Streamium.

Now, am I the only one who attempts to remove DOGs while encoding the video? I also have a method for undoing "credit squashing", but I don't use that very much as it's a bit time-consuming to set up.

I've got loads of stuff taped off the tv. Some recorded myself, others that I've acquired through swapping with other people and ebay. I'm a fan of comedies, and the ones I can think of, off the top of my head, that I've got that haven't been released on dvd or repeated recently are:

Just Good Friends (Complete with Christmas special)
That's My Boy
Me And My Girl
Just The Two Of Us
Three UP Two Down
Watching (Complete with specials)
See You Friday
Holding The Baby (Nick Hancock series)
Blue Heaven

I don't have them complete, but I've also loads of old Buzzcocks, HIGNFY, Fantasy Football and They Think It's All Over. I'm also close to completing the entire Neighbours series (some 5467 episodes to date!)
