Vodafone To Double Cost Of Overseas Text Messages
Vodafone is set to double the price of ooverseas text messages for contract customers. The price will go up from 12p to 24p per message. Vodafone are putting it up for "commercial reasons" in other words 3G loans have rather high interest rates! The Register - Vodafone to double overseas text rates.
It been a tough year already for mobile phone users in the UK with most companies putting prices up. Virgin are the only exception to this rule. |

and it costs them no more to send/receive a text message than if you were using the Vodafone network in the UK.

Calls to other networks were shocking, 50-60p a min at peak rate! The contract i got was 20p a min at peak rate. Landlines and same network were more expencive too. Text messages were more expencive, they charged for Voicemail and customer services..... It was silly, because if all you mates were on Vodafone, it was cheaper to be on One2One to phone them.....

Some of us are on Vodafone and stay so for years because generally we get good service. Also it's a bit like Norton Antivirus and Norton Internet Security (from Symantec). If large corporations use such products in such quantities then you tend to think of the provider as being not too bad.

I never have problems with Vodafone either, I have had problems on Orange, Virgin and o2. I have never had problems with Norton Antivirus 2002 or Norton internet security either! They have actually saved my PC a number of times!

Does the increase in the overseas prices affect people who have signed up for 50 free txts a month on contract with Vodafone/Singlepoint?
If I were to send a txt to, say my Dad who is on holiday, would they charge me 24p instead of taking 2 free txts (pre-costed at 12p each)? And can they do that if I have signed a contract stating all my txt message charges would be 12p? |

I think Texts sent abroad as excluded from your text allowance in your contract although I dont know for sure. But I will at the end of this month when I get my mobile bill as I have been texting my girlfriend who was on holiday.
