Problem With PC Surround Sound

I made a long thread a while ago about what surround sound system to buy and thanks to your advice, I picked up a Yamaha amp as well as Yamaha speakers, subwoofer.etc, everything has been fine until now.

It took me a while to figure out how the audio works with my PC, it worked with an optical cable plugged from the PC to the amp. Now, a problem has happened and it looks like no signal is getting through...it even displays it on the amp's screen.

I tested both cables I have for different slots and they worked fine, so the problem must be with the PC but I can't figure out what it could be. Any ideas?

Ok you can close this now. I found what the problem was, I set the sound options wrong so nothing was coming through. It's working fine now
