Tamara's probably my least favourite, and Katie, well she'd be a good Liesl, so I hope they go tonight.

Running commentary! Because I feel like it...

Kyla - Her best performance to date. Not a bad dancer, but the vocals suffered a wee bit... and it seemed like she was holding back? She recovered well after forgetting her words though!

Donna- I LOVE her voice, but the song was a bit... unrecognisable?! Lol! (I think it's from Oklahoma?) Naah, I don't really care about her "diva attitude", she's fantastic. But I'm still unsure about her suitability for the role...

Marisa- Seriously, this girl is stunningly pretty! And she was fabulous this week! Definately in my top 3 favourite Marias! She has the magical eyes that Sarah had in IDA. But her vocals still haven't wowed me... though she's getting better every week, and she was pretty good at the whole dancing and singing together thing Oh, and I loved her dress!

Janna- The editing of her VT with Andrew was a bit weird... she closes her eyes, that's a problem... end of VT. Defying Gravity!! And a pretty good version! In fact, I'm surprised by how much I enjoyed it! I'd say best performance of the series so far! Another fabulous actress too. Yup, she's one of my favourites !

Tamara- Her vocal is pretty awesome. Actually, a bit of a revalation there! I really enjoyed that... She can act... but it needs a bit of work!

Jayme- That was very good but... I still don't get her The word "cabaret" is thrown around a lot in the UK version of these shows... that's the word that springs to mind when I watch Jayme. Sorry...

Katie- I like her. I don't know if I'm endered to her bubbliness or what it is, but she has a bit of spark! I like her voice, but - kind of like Sam and Naimh - I think it needs a bit of time to mature. Her belt isn't that great... she did exhibit some acting skills this week, and her final few notes in her upper register were not as bad as Elaine seemed to think they were... but she's probably too young.

Elicia- I shouldn't be comparing this to IDA performances, but this wasn't a patch on Rachel's! It was brilliant, and Elicia has an AMAZING voice! And she can dance! And she is a pretty decent actress (at least from what we've seen she is!) Whole package, though perhaps the "safe" option? I'm not sure she has a "spark", but I'd be quite happy if she won!

My top 3 this week:
1. Janna
2. Elicia
3. Marisa

I think I want Jayme, Kyla or Tamara to go home... I dunno!

Hurray for Pacific time, it's only 8:30 here
Spoiler
It was Kyla, Katie and Tamara and he saved Tamara because she's the only high soprano in the group
Not the person I'd have saved. Next week we drop to 4.

^ i agree with it on performance alone for both of them.

you are so funny. don't think you will be too surprised.

when you said it wasn't a patch on Rachels i thought you meant Rachels was better. I loved Rachels tenacity and coreography but Elicia's vocal was better if that makes sense. the costuming was so different as well. i found elicia's a very cabaret costume and rahchels a thrown together shorts number without a lot of thought to detail. the costuming in both shows is totally different. even the rent ones for the results show looked proper.

as far as the VTs, I agree. I had mentioned the Simona example which all then made sense when they brought up her behaviour on the live show. I like seeing the girls interviewed and such, but would really like to see them rehearsing together more or just being together, although, i know they are trying to downplay any drama, which is why i think elaine's outburst, and even saying tonight she doesn't take it back is all odd. jb didn't say much tonight. they don't seem to have many missions really. i have seen them with ALW.

i like janna too. she is very down to earth, drinks beer and is not putting on any persona other than what she is. she is almost embarrassed about admitting it all. i like her.

I'm also really missing ALW! Did he mention on a VT on the show that he would be arriving in July? I hope this means for the live shows. Bravo him if so!”

he will be there next week.

yes she got me through IDA. basically, it is three girls with lowest votes singing JCS with one staying.

it's too classy and only wants to focus on the talent. LOL - i agree though, if they are not going to show it, mentioning it is pointless. they both stood their ground though. elaine didn't detract it and donna said something about misconstruing confidence for diva like behavior, etc.

the only vt that really wasn't over edited, and i say it because she admitted on the live show without any glazing over was Simonas attitude. she was a bit too much to take and then after her little freak out i couldn't stand her.

Hi Piper, - I think it is 6 too.

Until Elaine made her comments about Donna I hadn't really appreciated we were really only seeing the performances and nothing from the week running up to the show. I think I prefer it this way as it does prevent all the bitchy/lovie comments that result from people thinking they know a person from the VT clips (I include myself when saying this LOL!).

LaLaLaur - hello my twin - our posts are almost identical again!

Actually Piper, I did mean Rachel's was better... It gave me goosebumps. Elicia's was amazing, but give me goosebumps it did not...

Disappointed to see Tamara stay (is that harsh?), but I suppose it was the right decision in the long run.

Hey, Buddy!

Now, hurry up torrent!

stop spoiling!!!!! lol

some people havent seen it. based on that performance of all that jazz though, whatsername had to go. it was so breathy, clunky, really showed she couldn't do a stage performance if two minutes and she didn't even do it was any indication.
rachels gave me goosebumps to. i actually made a thread about it, i was that impressed.

I've not watched the results show yet (will do in a little while though), but I couldn't help looking at the spoiler.

This coming Sunday 6 girls perform, this coming Monday 2 girls are sent home again, so we're down to 4 by the evening of the 14th.

WOW they are getting through them quickly!

Well seeing as it is on the official website - who the heck is voting for Jayme???????

I didn't like poor Donna being singled out again - Elaine should comment on them all about what happens off stage if that's going to happen. I thought Donna handled herself very well - I'd have been in bits. Although she's not my choice for Maria, I feel she's now in the same position as Jodie on IDA in that she'll only survive if she stays out of the sing off.

I thought it was a hard choice for Simon in the sing off as I don't think any of the three are Maria.

Yeah and that week when it goes down to 4 girls, John Barrowman is apparently performing as well, which in my personal opinion is awesome!!!!

I know the show opens in October, but I wonder why they are having to eliminate two Marias at once like like this - a TV scheduling problem maybe? It must be awful for the contestants knowing they are getting chopped down so quickly. It is like a mini version of the normal show.

Actually, there were two 'double evictions' in the UK version of HDYSAPM - so in that sense, it's just following the same format.

Oh, and JB performed a musical number with the UK Marias when it got down to the final 5 (which was the second double eviction show).

Yes, but the double eliminations didn't start until week 4 and week 5 was the semi final (when they danced with JB). It seems different to me - more rushed some how.

Spoiler
Katie
excelled in that singoff, but I guess it wasn't to be!

I think I've noticed something else that's making this show less enjoyable than the UK ones (for me anyway...). The fact there are advert breaks. In the UK we get a full hour of Maria/Joseph/Nancy-ness, but here we're only getting 45 minutes so that leaves less time for VTs, task footage and general amusement. I dunno, the contestants on this show are all very talented, but I can't seem to "click" with any of them in the way I "clicked" with Abi, Lee and Sarah in the UK shows. It probably is down to the lack of VTs and also the fact that this show seems less light hearted (I'm not sure how to describe what I mean, but does nobody else think there's a sort of... really serious undertone to everything that's happening?) I know I'm supposed to choose a favourite based on talent, but having a connection with a contestant is never a bad thing. In fact, I'd go as far as to say it is probably why the shows have been so successful in the UK. I mean imagine we never had a glimpse of Jodie's personality, do you honestly think she'd have won? (Don't get me wrong I do love her!)

Aaallssoooo, the group numbers in the results show are always a bit of a disappointment. Seasons of Love was awwwful!

My new favourite is Marisa. It's a close call between her and Janna at the moment for me, but Marisa has something about her that I like! Lol! That said, 4 of the remaining 6 could win and I'd be happy!

In short I think I'm trying to say "I miss I'd Do Anything" lol!

i dont think by Wednesdays, spoilers are necessary.

i thought seasons of love was good, and i loved the dress for it too. oh....... actually a couple of solo parts were way off, but the chorus of that song gives me chills when sung well and as an ensemle it did that for me.

i agree with you on this version though, about not having connections as such with these girls.

i miss the missions as well as rehearsal times.

Elaine tried to create drama though. lol.

I agree, I also liked Seasons of Love! (Fran would've been proud of them ) Although I was disappointed with the sing-off, especially after how good I thought last week's was.

It seems that for every good performance in this series there is a bad one, like it's yet to take off. But hopefully it will now we're down to the final six.

I think there's a widening gap also between Jayme and Tamara and the other four, so hopefully they will go next week. But I'm always up for a bit of drama!
piper333

for me the only Maria is Janna. and it isn't the short hair (but i do think people vote on the maria look tbh)

the final should be between Elisia and Janna (best all around performers vocally and dramatically)

Marisa may be third with Donna fourth or vise versa

I say if they are trying to get Donna out due to the unconventional look, then why the h e double hockey sticks put her in. (well i could put some IDA examples in for that too)

I actually found Jodie's personality annoying - and I expect a lot of other people did! So showing it probably hindered as much as helped!

I think there seems to be more of a 'business-like' approach to this show, so the fun element and warmth (present in the UK version of HDYSAPLM and ADWD) is missing.

I enjoyed the Seasons Of Love group song - an interesting choice which worked well when performed as a group song because it was orginally written as a group song!
