I enjoyed the Seasons Of Love group song - an interesting choice which worked well when performed as a group song because it was orginally written as a group song!”

you may call it warmth, i called it drama enducing. - i know what you mean though, the business like is mixed with a bit of their personalities though. i like when the girls are interviewed. their personalities show through without having to go OTT on VT's

I think there has to be a middle way. I'd like to see VT of their training/preparation each week including their thoughts about it, but I'm not that interested in their personal lives or 'missions' - like the way SCD does things.

I just watched it on youtube.

As ever, musical theatre week was a real highlight. Why can't every week be MT week?

I think the standard's pretty high here. There are four girls I could put up as Maria right know without qualms and at least one who might rise to it.

In no particular order.

Katie - I think she's adorable. The song did her no favours whatsoever, I thought she had easily the worst song choice of the night. She's probably a bit young for it though, and the standard is high. Also her upper register is a wee bit screechy.

Kyla - She never did much for me and I thought this was fine, but a bit bland and boring. Her looks have gotten her this far. Not up to the standard.

Tamara - I thought she was easily the worst. If she has such a great high soprano, why not show it off? The acting was bad, she is not ready for this at all. I hope she's next to go.

Jayme - Wasn't doing much for me so far, but I absolutely loved this. She looked every inch a star. Such a fun, bubbly performance. I thought it was better than Connie's version of the same.

Donna - What a voice. Seriously, I don't think they're giving her enough credit for having both an amazing belt and a fabulous soprano. Though mind you, what use is a great belt for Maria Von Trapp? The critique felt very much like a personal attack. I think it may have backfired.

Janna - This was a superb, professional performance. She's out Connying Connie. I think she's very talented, but there are one or two others I hope can give her a run for her money.

Marisa - She's my favourite. I love, love, love this song and I've always thought it would be a great one to do on the UK shows. She did it fabulously. She's the whole package for me.

Elicia - I was all prepared to be down on Elicia because of her status as the panel's darling, but this just blew me away. I much prefered it to Rachel's, I though her version was very true to the way in which it fits into the actual show. Mind you, Cabaret is almost a guarenteed show stopper, so she was kind of handed this on a plate. But she's certainly versatile.

One thing I really appreciate about this show is the way that Simon has been so clear about what he's looking for, both vocally and from an acting point of view. When he decides who he's going to save, he always has a rational, fair, well expressed reason for his choice, unlike Andrew who mostly just saves his favourites, regardless of suitability.

Simon definately has the decorum ALW doesn't

I do enjoy that the leering and leching are pretty much absent from this version. I must admit that the Marisa-love is escaping me, she's just too bubbly and cute for me.

i also don't think the canadian version tape the results show the same night - i do think it is live the next night

I think you are right because Donna said she didn't get much sleep after Elaine's comments. I think American Idol does this too, so maybe it is just the UK that does it all on the same night.

They can't tape the results show Sunday night because of all the time zones in Canada. Voting doesn't close in Western Canada until 3 am Toronto time.

You know something, I was convinced today was Monday when I woke up and started looking for the HDYSAPLM torrent

Oh dearie me!

Who do we all reckon is going home this week? I'd say Tamara for sure, not sure who else. I kind of hope it's Jayme - I still can't see her as a Maria. I hope Marisa and Janna are safe (though I'm sure the latter will be!)

I'd pick Tamara and Jayme to go home - but hey! what do I know judging by the voting so far LOL!

Is it another double elimination? Eek. They're racing through this. I really hope Tamara goes. She is just not up to the standard of the others.

that's what i thought, but the UK version had 10 and two double eliminations or did they have 12?

anyway, Buddy I realized tonight that the set is actually all white (like the sound of musicals show) and maybe the lighting is what makes it look tacky? i don't know... they are trying to utlize it more this week with backdrops of the 60s genre. costumes were okay, Janna, suprisingly faultered. John used my friend Seth Rudetsky's saying of Amahzing so again showing me he steals lines. lol...

you will see the performaces

my top three are solid now
Janna
Elicia - note the song!
Marisa ( i so wish i could post a photo of my neice and you would see they are twins)

The UK version also had 10 contestants.

Simon's really getting on my nerves. The speech he gave last night about how Donna knows she's not their Maria but she's determined to prove them wrong. FFS Simon, you put her in the final 10 knowing that she had a lower voice.

I don't understand that, how is she vocally not Maria? Did he hear her singing last week!? She's got an amazing soprano voice on her! That said, it would be a shame to waste such a tremendous belt voice. Give her the part of Nancy!

I wonder if it's downloadable yet? *off to search*

i do wonder if he is using the royal "we" because jb, doesn't feel her voice is wrong for the role and the voice in general as a guise for the appearance not being right in their eyes. i agree, why top ten if no chance?

I'm struggling to find it today.

Right from the start I said this would be just like Jodie.. The only reason for someone making the final who's 'face' doesn't fit is some kind of political correctness and it is so unfair to the contestant who must know what type of role they look most suitable for.

Maybe tomorrow it comes crashing down
Maybe next week I'll find another clown
Maybe I'll try to go a different way
But look who's sitting here today....

Oh, I thought I felt a song coming on

Yeah, hopefully it'll be up tomorrow! Lol!

Well, now I'm really choked. Hope Simon's happy now. It's not my final 4, but it's Simon's, and he did a better job than Andrew and Cameron of getting rid of the girl he didn't want.
