Well, what a load of tosh!

Started off with a great group opening number and then it all went down hill!

Talk about terrible song choices!

Elicia - Great energy and looked fab, but hasn't got a powerful enough voice to do 'Shout' justice imho - lost singing performance at the expensive of moving about so much too.

Donna - A great performance as usual, but how is she supposed to show she has a decent soprano voice with that song? And what was she wearing?????? After that it was a foregone conclusion she would be in the bottom three, especially given Elaine's negative comments last week - and once she was there she was on her way. The only way she would have stayed in this show was by staying out of the sing off (sound familiar anyone?).

Tamara - Just can't sing 'pop' and those leggings???

Marissa - Just fab and so comfortable, but Simon still wasn't happy - she must be thinking what on earth does she have to do????

Janna - Asked to sing a classic 'harmonies' song on her own????? Did her best but jeeze.....and her dress was about three sizes too big!

Jayme - Given the best song and did a good job, but others would have done it MUCH better given the chance.

And those dancers - so naff!

Once the bottom three were announced they needn't have bothered with the sing off!

I thought Donna's sing off was the best - I think her soprano voice is lovely - and brought the only tears to my eyes this week (don't remember that ever happening before in any of the previous shows/series). Tamara was off key and Elicia did a good job.

Simon has done all of the finalists an injustice with his terrible song choices.

...And did anyone notice Jayme has had her teeth done? They look perfect now!

On the Jayme front though, is she the judge's new favourite?

I love Marisa. She gave a spectacular performance imo, even if it was slightly bizarre to give her that song to portray vulnerability. I have no idea what Simon is looking for.

I'm happy whoever wins now, but I hope it's Marisa or Janna above the other two. If the British series are anything to go by, Janna's the winner. The other three have all been in the sing off before...

Also, forgot to say how much I LOVED 'The Lonely Goat Heard' - it was brilliant!

not necessarily, it could have worked in her favour. it did with Jodie. she never had ALW on her side, for example. i think a lot of people here, thought Elaine was in the wrong.

if you can sing, song choice doesn't matter and if people vote on the song choice and not the voice coupled with intent of lyrics, then they shouldn't effin be voting!!!

as for Janna, a stoned hippy dancing around isn't supposed to have a skin tight dress! lol

Well, people kept getting told that Donna didn't have a soprano, and they certainly didn't get much chance to hear her soprano, nor did she get a chance to show off her skills with movement.

I think this is different to Jodie because we had the VT clips of the girls every week building up their 'show personalities', and that's partly what counted in her favour with the voters when it was clear she wasn't ALW's choice. Yes, lots of us here thought Elaine was wrong - but we've seen three previous series here in the UK and the Canadian public are not likely to have done that, so instead of reacting in a negative way they may have taken Elaine's comments at face value, after all she is the 'nice' judge.

Don't get me wrong I don't think Donna was right for the part of Maria and I'm sure a lot of the Canadian public didn't think so either which is why she is no longer in the competition, but I don't like how she was treated on this show. I think she did a great job with every song she was given, but if she is a weak soprano why not set challenges around that so the public can see it for themselves?

Also for all we know she may have been top out of the bottom three and we don't know how close she was to the Maria above or below her in the voting. I just think Elaine's & AWL's comments plus Simon with his constant subtle and not so subtle criticism of her made sure she did not make it to the final. It was a foregone conclusion that the minute Donna was in the sing off that was it for her. I have to say getting rid of two contestants every week is a great way of having far more control of who gets into the final and who doesn't.

And Janna's dress - the style was spot on, it was just far too big! It looked like she'd lost the melons that should have been inside it LOL!

I didn't like Jayme at all at the start and I have warmed to her a bit now, but out of the four left I'd like Janna or Marisa to win. Jayme and Elicia could probably do the role. but I just feel they lack something and Janna and Marisa have the whole package!

nah, the whole CM, ALW thing against her worked in her favour and she was right for the part too.

do they not tell us in this one who got the fewest votes? i don't know. did it make a difference in HDYSAPLM UK? hey, also...do you notice the opening of this show is the same as the UK one from 2 years ago??

I enjoyed the kissing scene -- some really great spontaneous reactions from all the girls, the ones kissing and the ones watching. Janna on top! At this point I'm torn between Janna and Jayme. Elicia just doesn't enthrall me and Marisa doesn't have the right voice or the right look. She's like Katie, she looks like a Liesl to me.

and yet for me, even though they all used their Maria voice, I liked Marisa's performance the best and she is the only one who had back up singers and dance. don't they usually give the girls they really like that advantage? i guess not this time.

Elicias voice is fab, i just love the original of that song by Anne Murray, so hard to hear in that tone for me.

GC has really settled into the presenting role!

Jayme - hated her performance and I find her very fake - my least favourite by far and I REALLY hope she is eliminated.

Elicia - best performance yet by far - ALW & Simon's no.1 favourite imho.

Janna - outstanding, just loved it and I don't really like that song. ALW though - why ask about her thoughts about the ending and agree with her, only to change your mind afterwards????

Marissa - set up tonight with that song. She was quite simply superb (and the only one wearing a dress that went with those black tights), but why wasn't she given a song to sing with a Maria soprano voice like the others??? She sang that song how it should be sung - what else did they expect??? Ever heard Tina Turner singing soprano??? I felt ALW's final comments to the voting public were directed at her too. Clear move to get her eliminated tonight imho - I think her body language said she thinks she's on her way home too - I hope the public keep her in.

My choice for Maria in order of preference -

1. Janna
2. Marissa
3. Elicia

Loved the kissing task - made me realise all over again just how perfect JB is! Thank goodness for him speaking up against the other judges on the panel too even after he's had his say!

They certainly aren't bothering to be subtle, are they? When they say "You could be..." at the end of Maria School, they should mean it for every girl they pick. And yeah, my girlfriend Karen phoned me at the end of the very first show and said, It's going to be Janna.

Oh, she'd have made a brilliant Sophie!! I think she definately has the soprano range for Maria, but I guess when the pannel decide they don't want you for their Maria, there's always going to be a reason why.

The thing I'm slightly confused by is that the panel all seem to prefer Elicia and Jayme to Janna, but I'd say Janna was the most obvious choice? They've been giving her some funny songs these past weeks too. Defying Gravity was amazing and then it all went a bit... odd.

I don't mind if Elicia wins, but I really don't want Jayme to. She's been really good the past few weeks, but Sunday sorta put a tick in the "not Maria" box for me (though I can't really explain why, she's just not... right!)

Janna seems to be the teflon contestant though, even that awful performance of California Dreaming didn't put her in the bottom 3. Being able to control the song choices absolutely makes a big difference.
