I find it unbelievable that Jayme has made it to the final.
I agree with LaLaLaura - I think the judges find a fault, that's it - just pack your bags. Even my husband says the sing offs are a waste of time, as the two of the judges (Simon & Elaine) have made it clear who they like and don't like - no open minds there. JB was the most impartial judge we felt.
I quite liked Janna's California Dreaming. I thought she did her best with a dreadful song choice - I felt that was a bit of a trap set for her. Elicia is miles better than Jayme, but she seems a bit dippy to me - cocks up the stairs at some point almost every week, which would be fine for Maria if it was as part of an act LOL! - she just doesn't have the polished finish of Janna.
I hope Janna wins.
I think that ALW has learned from the UK HDYSAPLM and won't pin his colours to his favourite until the final show. It's how he used Sam in IDA. If Janna is his true favourite you'll see it loud and clear from the beginning of the final show.
What about his "Richard Gere and the Gerbil" line? What a WTF moment! Surely they're afraid of lawyers in Canada too?

We have a fairly elastic idea of "fair comment" in Canada, I've heard much ruder remarks on primetime shows. For me that's been a real downside of the Canadian Maria, very little sense of tension about who the frontrunners are. It's interesting that they seem to have tried and failed to sabotage Janna the way they shot Donna down. At this point any of the 3 girls would be okay for me, but none of them strike me as "a star".

oh the gerbal and richard gere? ALW is a naughty man and that could not be scripted and was hillarious.
no prob. the only thing is, i have only seen up to episode 5 on youtube and nothing further, the show is over and i know who won, but want to see the shows... help!
you obviously haven't been to a toronto theatre district musical (equivilant to a west end or broadway for Canada) I have been to all three, WE, Broadway and Princess of Wales in Toronto... believe me they are comparable.
note- Marisa played a splendid Sophie in Mamma Mia

Okay, I didn't actually watch the results show last week... I'm watching it now. I'm still really annoyed Marisa got the boot, she was FANTASTIC. And the sing off was brilliant. I think 'As If We Never Say Goodbye' must just provide opportunity for the best sing offs in any competition! (Though it was not a patch on Sarah and Rachel...!!) I think it's comparable to the IDA sing off in a couple of ways though - I'd say Marisa outsang Jayme (ala Sarah outsang Rachel), but Jayme was more suited to the role. And also I think Marisa (ala Sarah) probably knew she was going home before she opened her mouth.
