Hope it's as good as the British version and not as bad as the American/British "You're the One that I Want"!”

You are a star

The CBC doesn't charge a license fee, but it is a crown corporation and receives approximately 2/3 of its revenues from the government.

Due to Canada's vastness, for many years it was the only TV service available in rural and remote parts of the country. As late as the 1970s CTV only reached 80% of the population.

Or created one. This is really the first extensive exposure for him not playing a character, and previously when being himself he's not been camp. He's actually a lot more like Matt Lucas than Graham Norton. Rather than stand-up comedy, he plays various characters, some of whom are women, some of whom are men, some gay, some straight.

totally agree. i think Canadians do like Gavin though. GN had a show in the US for a while in the old Rikki Lake studio but it didn't last. he couldn't break America like my lovely Craig Ferguson. I love Graham too though.

I think maybe GN might be a bit OTT for Canada? I watched his show on iPlayer last night and it was so funny and rude! LOL!

I think GN is a 'clever' comedian and on his show all the funny bits run together so well so that it doesn't look planned, but I'm sure that's how it is meant to seem.

I just finished reading GN's autobiography; He had a successful show in the USA on the Comedy Central (?) channel, but gave it up when he was signed by the BBC if I recall the last few chapters correctly.

And YAY. I love Craig Ferguson!

(Not quite as much as I love Graham Norton though... )

Graham Norton is a virtual unknown in Canada, while Crawford stars in one of our longest-running comedy shows. It would make no sense for the CBC to pay Norton's considerable salary to host the show when he's no more well-known than the Marias.

Am I right in thinking that this is on Canadian tv on Sunday night which will be the equivalent of early morning uk?

people don't know John Barrowman either, (and probably don't even know the professional judges extremely well, other than ALW and not sure he will be on the panel) but will love him, and i think the point is, it is a UK show, brought over to Canada where we love british humour and people would probably warm to Graham quite easily. if you are going for canadian popularity there would be others before Gavin that could fit the bill too. not everyone watches 22 minutes, (his contribution started in 2003 to fill in for Mary Walsh) Robson Arms, or his self titled show. he has some things common with Graham Norton though, openly gay, has a self titled show, is funny.

i do agree though, that they would never pay Graham the salary that he may want. but ALW could

My husband is also a serious golfer (not a serious as yours though ) and that's why I was up so late last night as he was watching the USA Open until the coverage ends at 3.00am! Coverage is only until 2.00am tonight - unless there's play off of course!

I hope your husband does well on the tour. You'll have to tell us when he is playing and we'll look out for him! Hope he makes it up to you for playing on your anniversay, but this could be how it will be from now on LOL!

I'm from Dundee and there's lots of golf courses in that area - do you know where you'll be based when you come over to Scotland?
