Phillips 3480 recording from sky

Hi I have sky plus and nearly every channel on sky sky one 2 , 3 sky sports news all movies come up with copy protected even uk gold any idea if it is my set up or the machine as i dont think these are all copy protected?

No they shouldn't all be copy protected. Try rebooting the Sky box with the recorder in standby, or changing the SCART lead connecting the Sky box with EXT2 on the recorder.

Thanks for the reply tried it with no luck. Spoke to sky they re set the card and i put dvd player in standby no luck.Been told its a problem with this model dvd player philips 3480 and it cant detect what should and shouldnt be copied so does it all.

Any other ideas?

Well mine doesn't have a problem recording from a Virgin box. Nice of Sky to pass the buck.

At least one other person on DS got it to work with Sky+ (first post in this thread):

... and still working fine. Recorded many Sky movies etc. without problems. My Sky+ box is a V2 Pace.

I did upgrade the firmware before I used it. It was out of date when i go it.

What make of Sky+ box do you have? How are they connected?

Hi I have Amstrad sky + box

Worrying thing is when i try to record through RF same copy protected issue comes up and sky advised that has no protection on it and i still get the copy protection message.Gone through all scart leads on recorder and sky plus and tv its not them.

Any other ideas?

Sky think it the firmware in the recorder which i have just updated

Does it manage to record off any channel? How old is the recorder? Try contacting Philips.

It's most likely caused by the Amstrad box. The quality of design and build is poor at best. Do you not have any other problems with the Amstrad?

No I have no other problems with the Amstrad box maybe I should try the recorder on my partners mums sky box see if that works if it does guess its the amstrad box.

Ok this just gets stranger dvd recorder works fine on friends sky plus so must be either sky card or sky box going to ask sky 4 a new card which they agreed to send.If that doesnt work must be the box.
