Because she did say it! They would have all been stupid not to bring it up with SAS!
Lucinda did not say she didn't want the job, actually....

At best, his actions have been, at times, a bit morally ambiguous. At worst, he's a sneaky little shit.

The fact that a whole lot of people share this view of Alex tells me that the editors are deliberately giving him this image. We keep seeing lots of shots of Alex pulling his little faces. There's no way he's going to win.

Claire on the other hand, has been so flattered by the edits, including the interviews today where she seemed to perform better than the others, that I can't see how she WON'T win. It's being set up so that we want her to.

Funny how they forgot to mention about how she said that she had realised that she was in the right place, and that she did want the job.

Alex is a complete sleaze - if he wins...

Makes no difference - the damage had been done. She had doubts and they could easily have come back. It's only right for SAS to find out now rather than hiring her and have her walk out a week later when she realised it wasn't for her.

I think Lucinda was having a moment of weakness and questioning why she was there, and why she would put herself through all of this. As she said, once she had weighed it all up, it made her realise that she absolutely wanted the job.

Nothing wrong with that.

I'm no fan of Lucinda and think SAS was completely correct to fire her, but Alex was out of order to drop Lucinda in it. I've never liked him and of the remaining 4 I dearly hope he finishes last.

Not only does Alex miss the comeback but he misses it twice - truly dim.

But then she said she had reconsidered and they wouldn't let her say that. Claire had doubts, it was clear, but Alex jumped in, as usual, to stitch someone up.

It was his exasperated performance in the boardroom that got me. If he genuinely felt "aggravated" by Lucinda's moment of reflection, why not challenge her there and then? Why wait until he had Sir Alan's attention?

That was rhetorical. There's no doubt in my mind it was strategic and disingenous of him. His trademark scornful face appeared when Lucinda was talking in the boardroom. He's ruthless, and not in a good way. Killer instincts are ok if like Claire you come from the front. When you're slithering through the scrub ready to take someone by surprise, you're a snake.

Exactly....it didn't bother him at all, it was just something he could tuck away and use in the the boardroom.

It's quite obvious that Alex detested Lucinda - look at the last couple of weeks where he seemed to manipulate Lee into the 'Lucinda is totally negative' mode

She probably spurned him while rotund Claire was pining over him for 11 weeks.

To be fair ()

Alex despises them all.

He has been trying to get rid of her the past few weeks, without a doubt.

i completely agree with you, i noticed they kept showing alex's face during the boardroom when others were talking, i found it quite strange. And they showed the least of claire's interviews, and what they showed was much better than the others, granted, she probably performed better, but they showed loads of alex and lucinda doing badly. even lee this time actually.

If Sir Alan is looking for a treachorous creep to employ, then Alex is the man (boy) for the job.

Nothing on the apprentice is private, Sir Alan will have seen the footage of her saying that.. Alex grass or no Alex grass.
I don't think Alan sees film footage from the shows until later - he relys on Nick, Margaret and latterly the interview panel for information. None of these people were present when Lucinda was musing about the job.

Alex is such a childish telltale - such a weak candidate that he has to bring someone else down to make himself look better.

I thought he was downright rude, sighing all the way through the interviews and being completely arsey!

Really not bothered who wins now - they've all proved themselves to be pretty reprehensible.

Him and Michael should start the 'we're only young, you can't fire us' club.....

As much as it pains me to say this I think Lucinda showed her naivety by mentioning it in front of those sharks. They were already threatened by her, and by saying what she was thinking out loud she gave them the ammunition they needed to bring her down. She KNOWS how deceitful and spiteful Alex and Helene can be, so if anything it showed a lack of awareness.

On the other hand she's a very intelligent woman; she may have given them the bullet in the hope they would fire the gun. By doing so not only would SAS see how low some of them would sink to get the job but she would also be fired to boot.
