No. She's kept that private. So unless some family member (highly unlikely as they're upper middle class) or, a "friend" brings it up we're not going to know.

Because unlike - 'I'm right ballsy me, Helene' she has refused to discuss why she made the decision to cut off all ties with her family. Which is another reason to like and respect her.

I wonder if this has anything to do with it?
"APPRENTICE star Lucinda Ledgerwood is hiding a family secret - she changed her name because she did not want to be known as Miss Burger. The Scots-based TV hopeful has taken her mother's family name of Ledgerwood but was known as Cindy Burger at school. She changed identities in 2004 after moving to Edinburgh and setting up a dating agency called Sage and Thyme. A friend said: "Cindy changed her name because she wanted to be treated more seriously in the world of business. It shows just how ambitious she is. "Her grandmother's family name was Ledgerwood so she took that on. Burger attracted the expected giggle. "Cindy is a very bright girl and determined to win." Lucinda's mum Sally Laird, who is divorced from her father Bernard Burger, refused to talk about her daughter. Neighbours in Berkshire said they knew nothing about Lucinda appearing in The Apprentice. And when told she was appearing on the show, her stepdad Iain Laird said: "Oh God. Is she?" " (Sunday Mail, Mar 30 2008) Curiouser and curiouser!!

Perhaps it was simply that their name was Burger and they used to call her "chicken"?

I think it's great that Lucinda refused to construct any family problems she may have into a sob story, a la Helene.
She's a lady who isn't afraid to be true to herself, and isn't bothered about fitting in with everyone else - quite a rare quality in adults, and one of the things about Lucinda which I greatly admire. Have to admit though, I am curious about what the big secret is

She refused to talk about her past and her family on 5 live this morning saying that it was a business programme and she didn't want to talk about such things.
There is something there, and the more she refuses to talk about it, the more the redtops will dig until they find it. So, either she's being naive OR she's kept it secret to sell her story for however much to one of those so we'll all find out in a few days/weeks. kateab |

Maybe not, but we'll see. People have surprised / saddened me in the past.

I was wondering the same thing ... I guess people have to respect her privacy but doesn't stop us 'mere mortals' from wondering

I doubt she'll say anything, the pressure point to say something has been and gone.
Plus it sounds like she made a huge effort to distance herself from whatever it is, so it will hardly slip out and she's been earning enough not to need to sell any story. |
