I don't remember the specifics, but from my recollection Claude was getting seriously angry for no good reason (I don't remember Lucinda doing/saying anything wrong??)


I remember on the Tottenham Hotspurs task in Season 1 that some executive geezer got angry when Saira was (supposedly) saying "we'll see what Sir Alan says about that"..... but it's funny how Claude seemed to say a similar thing just as Lucinda was walking out of the door ("that'll be for Sir Alan to decide")

I think all of the interviewers (with the exception of Karen Brady) are rude, confrontational and unprofessional. I'd have walked out of most of those interviews.

I actually think Lucinda handled them very well, without losing her cool.

Helene tried to give as good as she got; but her language was disgusting and made the whole process seem like a slanging match. (Though those thugs seemed to like it!)

Claire coped quite well but for someone who talks a lot, she really has very little to say & just keeps repeating herself. Didn't seem fazed though.

Lee & Alex both got flustered. They were particularly mean to Lee, I thought, the dinosaur impression thing was just bullying & goading someone very nervous & trying to please into making a fool of themselves. Yes, Lee lied, which was stupid, but that aside they seemed out to ridicule him.

Alex adopted his usual "I can't be bothered with all this nonsense" attitude - and for once I agreed with him.


And I think they are all threatened by educated people - hence dismissing Lucinda. I'm not clear on Alex's (further) education details, but the rest seem to have Lee's 4 months at Thames Valley between them!

The interviewers need to learn a bit more manners and respect. I wouldn't want to work for/with any of them.

I've nver had an interview where I have been asked to do an impression!

Apart from Karen Brady I thought they were all horrible. None of the men had anything constructive to ask and they were all negative and confrontational. That was no way to conduct an interview. An interrogation maybe, but not an interview.

You do realise that these interviews are supposed to be done in a scary dramatic way for entertainment purposes. They are in no way meant to reflect a real interview situation. It supposed to be an interrogation, they are supposed to find the persons faults and probe them about it, they are supposed to be rude...........its all panto realy and is done to entertain us. If they held a real interview we would all fall asleep watching.

Dont forget its a tv show and every single you see is done for entertainment.

Karen Brady's interview was embarrassing, she seemed more interested in some emotional connection and engaging with feelings than being professional. She was utterly inept and embarrassing. I am surprised she didn't start having aromatherapy discussions.

Interestingly enough, Lucinda has just said that Karen was the best interviewer.

That was entirely predictable. Karen was an inept and an airy-fairy interviewer and did not challenge the interviewee, and Lucinda is an airy-fiary non-entity who doesn't like to be challenged. As the interview was being broadcast I knew the inept Lucinda would find the emotional engagement with Karen appealing. Just appalling.

Well it's also interesting that one of the interviewers actually took time to phone SAS to tell him that he was "too hard" on Lucinda and that could he apologise to her on his behalf. As a result of the grilling he also told SAS that she was the best out of all the interviewees.

Now make of that what you will but, to me that is saying the opposite of what you're implying. In fact I would go further and suggest that it shows a woman who can handle all types of situations under pressure.

Yes of course everything you say is true but it's not entertaining (IMO). It's been the same every year when we get to this stage and have we ended up with the best candidate? Thinking Simon and Michelle. Alan Sugar picks the person who for whatever reason he identifies with. I actually put money on Michelle after she told SAS she had been a supermarket cashier.

I never enjoy this phase - it's not really interviewsing, more the business equivalent of the sergeant major beloowing what you looking at you horrible little man on the parade ground - if they had gone in wearing orange jumpsuits i wouldn't have been surprised.

And yes I have worked in business for many years, been interviewed and interviewed others - this is not a standard method, and it doesn't achieve the desired results - a good assessment of the candidates strengths, weaknesses and personalities.

Must take a fair bit to make one of them apologise.

I will make of it that Karen Brady was almost as inept as an interviewer as Lucinda was as a candidate, and both believe in aromatherapy, Feng Shui and shopping.

I think post this reveals more about you than it does of their credibility or accumen.

I didn't like the show very much (never do) but I did enjoy the bit where he challenged Lucinda to listen presumably expecting her to argue in an ironic and good for telly manner and she stopped talking to listen to him at which point he had nothing to say and ended up looking like a complete dick

You go girl, I don't think she was right for the job and was surprised (pleasantly) that she got as far as she did but it was worth it for that moment

Some people cannot perceive the screamingly obvious, the womanly comradeship between Brady and Lucinda. These same people clearly feel that interviews should be more about swapping shopping tips than actually getting to the substantive issues. Brady clearly had some airy-fairy agenda to connect emotionally with her interviewees and of course Lucinda loved that as she has nothing to offer but her emotions, and fashion advice.

I liked this too. I was surprised at how much Lee and Alex fell apart and squirmed whereas Claire,Helene and Lucinder remained composed and articulate.

Funny that, if she has so little to offer, that she's the highest paid of all the contestants. I wouldn't pay someone £100,000 plus for emotions and fashion advice, would you?

Lucinda babbled incoherently about nothing of consequence and was tripped up repeatedly with contradictions. As one of the interviewers said, she doesn't listen, all she wanted to do was express her emotions and avoid being challenged.

Alex did not get caught up in contradictions, he was simply a bit under animated.

If you think she performed well you clearly aren't used to doing or being in interviews.

I'm not sure if you are trying to be amusing, ironic or if you genuinely believe what you have said!

I find it hard to understand how you can reduce Brady's proven ability and commercial success to such a flippant and unsubstantiated caricature.

I might be wrong, but when the interviewers were being introduced, I'm sure the voice over chap said that Sir Alan has instructed each one to delve into a specific area of the candidates profile, maybe Sir Alan also wanted some to be good cops and some bad cops?

The only part I didn't like was back in the boardroom when Alex "grassed" on Lucinda.

But then again he is only 24! :yawn:
