TV not working...
I’ve got a problem with a fairly old Tatung television.
It was switched on and working fine one evening, then it just went dead. I’ve taken the back off and when I try to switch it on, there’s a buzz buzz sound that stays on for about 10 seconds before it goes quiet. There’s no picture or sound. The buzz buzz sound seems to come from around the area where the power cable meets the internal workings of the television, just on the other side of on/off button. Any ideas on what the problem might be? Thanks. |

It's an H3N chassis, and I can't say I've ever seen many of them!.
However, the earlier 28 inch sets commonly suffered from failure of the line output transistor - these went short circuit, caused by a dry joint in the line output stage, usually obviously visible, and on one of the inductors. The LOPT been short circuit causes the PSU to shutdown, it's this that causes the buzzing. |
