hi all, for those trying to get sams cd it looks like amazon have got hold of some, as i ordered one the other week, when it said they were out of stock, but more were to come in, well i got an email today saying its been dispatched! hopefully its not an error!

but it now also says on amazon that it is usually dispatched in 2-4 weeks, so looks like there may be some available after all

Urgh. She's gone way down in my estimation.

I had no idea she already had an album out. What a disappointment.

Why's that a disappointment?

Thanks for the heads up Anna

Cos, there was no mention of her having an album out already. IDA is about giving people chances, not to people who have had a chance and failed (i.e album) and gone on to do a show, without mentioning it.

I guess, I'd respect her more if she'd said something about her album, or past experiences, but it was all 'new', like she was fresh from the IOM.

Oh well. I was never struck on her anyway.

She is fresh from the IOM. The "album" was just locally made in the IOM, no record company or contract involved and was only sold locally in the IOM. She only moved from the IOM last september to do her A levels in London so was only there a matter of month before IDA started.

You don't get much more fresh than that.

Of course much different to Jodie who's 3rd reality tv show this was which really makes you question was being in the WE really her dream or was it actually tv?

yes, but it wasn't a world wide hit and as said below it was just done in the IOM. it's not like Idol, where they had two plants who already had record deals, and failed. big record deals.

but that's just singing

she wants to do MT, but probably cos she was young then (I think she was 15, not sure tho) she didn't have the chance to get into MT, and then did the album. then when she heard about IDA she probably went for it cos it's always been her dream

She mentioned the album in the week one VT, she said she'd had an album out and it sold 600 copies which she thought was huge!

no mistake, its just arrived the postman just delivered it 10 minutes ago

and as for gemmchickens post 1. sam mentioned it before, on id do anything, it was never released any where else but the iom and its not like she had a recording deal etc from a record lable! its only copy righted/signed to the studio she recoreded it at on the iom, hardley like shew was signed to emi, sony, mercury, polydor etc

ps and even if she was what would the difference be between her having an album out, to several of the other girls already having professional gigs- ie rachel, sarah, fran etc - absolutly none!

The difference is Rachel, Francesca and Sarah were good. Sam is the weakest finalist of any reality TV show.

For what it is worth this is what it says on Amazon -

Product Description
Sam Barks recorded this album in 2007, and went on to perform the songs as support to the Sugababes and ex-Busted star Matt Willis. Samantha performed track 3 "Nothing Else" at the Malta International TV Song Festival which she went on to win as Best Singer. She is now one of the finalists in BBC1's "I'd do Anything"

About the Artist
Born on the Isle of Man, Sam began dancing at the age of three. She studied ballet, modern and tap with Dancers Barre, then Stagecoach, Theatrix and the Manx Ballet Company. She studies singing, musical theatre and drama and is a member of the Manx Operatic Society. She is currently studying theatre at Arts Ed. in London. Previous theatre credits include Aurora in Sleeping Beauty, The Cheshire Cat in Alice in Wonderland, The Scarecrow in The Wizard of Oz, Dancing in Coppelia, La Boutique Fantasque, La Sylphide, The Nutcracker, Dick Whittington and Cinderella, Robinson Crusoe, Rizzo in Grease, a Hot Box Girl in Guys and Dolls, Cyndi Gibson in Back to the 80 s and she understudied Lucy in Jekyll and Hyde. Her film credits include Jimmy Spud, Chromophobia and David Jason s ITV production The Final Quest where she had a singing role. She co-wrote several of the songs on her debut album Looking in your Eyes , and has performed the songs with her band to many thousands of people, including when she supported the Sugababes and Matt Willis, and also when she sang during a Strictly Dancing Exhibition featuring Lilia Kopylova and Darren Bennett. She entered the Malta International TV Song Festival, representing the Isle of Man, and won the main prize of 2,000 euros and the title of Best Foreign Singer. She sang Nothing Else from her album Looking In Your Eyes .

If anyone is interested you can watch Chromophobia on FlimFlex (Pay for View) at the moment if you have Virgin Media Cable. Sam isn't listed on imdb as a cast member so you might have to keep your eyes peeled.

My guess would be she'll go down the pop star route if given the opportunity.
