Message from Kristina Rihanoff
Hello all! I've just been speaking with Kristina and she's asked me to post the following message to all the fans on her behalf**:
Hello all SCD fans! I am so excited to be a part of the upcoming season and I can't wait to get started! I think this is a marvelous opportunity and I am looking forward to performing for you all. I have been dancing for 15 years and love everything to do with Dancesport. If you have a moment, please see my other website, with my former partner Michael Wentink: http://www.michaelandkristina.com/. My own website is being updated and there will be a discussion forum where fans can come on and post. I will come on as much as I can. I will also be blogging about my SCD experiences on my myspace page: http://www.myspace.com/kristinarihanoff. I hope that you will stop by and leave your comments. If there are other things that you would like to see from me, please send me a message at krihanoff@gmail.com. I really value all the fans and their support. ![]() I think all the pros on SCD are wonderfully talented and I am honored to be part of the cast. I don't know right now which celebrity or professional I will be dancing with. Once I know, I will be sure to share the information with you. I'm sorry to hear that Nicole Cutler will not be returning. From what I understand, she is engaged and wants to take time off to be married. I am sure she will be missed on SCD and I wish her much happiness. It is my understanding that both Brian Fortuna and I were brought on board so that there could be more celebrities dancing. You can always chat on my Facebook Fan page, as well. A discussion thread about SCD has just been started. Thank you so much for your support. Kristina **Yes, this message is from Kristina. I know her, but was shy about saying it on this forum** |

I think that is a lovely message, and would like to say "WElcome, Kristina".
I for one am very excited about seeing Kristina on Strictly. I would have been happier to see her with a younger (dare I say) more hopeful celeb than the guy she has been partnered with, but hopefully she will be part of all the pro-group dancers. |

Is this a new innovation - the idea that the pro dancers, or celebs, might have some more direct involvement/communication with the audience - through blogging/MySpace/Facebook?
Do any of the other pros have blogs or entries on MySpace, etc? (They might, though I can't recall coming across anything saying "look at my blog"). There are dedicted threads about each of the celebs on the SCD forum. Do the pros and celebs actually go on any of those threads and communicate directly with the fans, or not? (They might - I don't know - I rarely look inside any of pro-specific threads). There's certainly an appetite for more information about what's happening behind the scenes, from authoritative inside sources. This whole idea reminds me a comment that was made about Barak Obama - that he was the first Presidential Candidate to embrace blogging and "new media". (A remark made on BBC News - don't know if it's true). Does seem like a good idea, and possibly just one example, of what "new blood" can bring to the series. I wonder if the other pros will now try to do the same thing. Are we to expect a "Kristina and John address their UK fans" video on YouTube. One "difficulty" is that a lot of readers only have a limited amount of time to spend browsing. And the more different things they have to look at - blogs/MySpace/Facebook/websites - and a different set for each of the 32 pros/celebs - it all becomes very unwieldy. And presumbably the writers of these blogs/websites have to duplicate everything they want to say all over the place too. A big advantage of posting on this Forum, is that everything SCD-related can all be found very conveniently, in one place. Incidentally, I wondered why this message is being posted in the DWTS forum, and not in the SCD forum. |

Kristina does seem to have several ways of communicating with her fans:
http://www.myspace.com/kristinarihanoff http://kristinarihanoff.blogspot.com/ http://www.new.facebook.com/pages/Kr...ff/16497138695 http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=4MbnChj45sk http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=ks3uo67TrNk I've noticed that Brian Fortuna also does it (http://ballroomdancechannel.ning.com...e/BrianFortuna), so maybe it's a DWTS thing. Or maybe they have been advised to do it to raise their profile a bit in the early stages of the show. Ian has a blog on his website during the show, and Nicole used to do one. I don't think any of the others do it though. |
