What do you think of Connie Fisher and Lee Mead?

I loved Connie and though she was amazing in The Sound of Music.

I didn't really like Lee because the show was incredibly aimed in his favour and I didn't like that at all. I will eventually go and watch Joseph but i'm in no rush, (I have seen it in the West End before).

I kind of liked Daniel Boys in ADWD but forgot about him, then when I went to go and watch Avenue Q last month, I remembered how talented he was. I'm going again on Thursday, I enjoyed it that much.

I'm also dying to see Hairspray, but i'm saving up as I want a ticket in the stalls and refuse to sit anywhere else. I'll definatly be going in the summer as I adore the film and love all the songs. I'm not a fan of Ben Ellis but i'm sure he will do a great job as Link.

In what way was the show incredibly aimed in his favour?

I thought although it helped Lee - especially getting rid of Daniel, it was Lewis ALW was trying to favour.

I have a theory which I can never prove, which is if Lee had ever been in the bottom two he would have been gone - as would Jodie.

I think they new early on that Lewis was never going to cut it. So they went for the next one that would look like Joseh which was Lee.

I just read some info on one of the sites about Connie, he has not been getting on with some of the cast and they are enjoying the fact she is not getting work. Her concert tickets only sold 200 out of a 4200 seater. The cast who have worked their way up are saying her 15 mins of fame is over....some really dont like her.

not a nice position to be in............

Oh Caspy, do we have to go over all this again.

Yes, 100% agreed that The Lord did not want Daniel in that role. He was blind to Daniel's great talents. Shame on him.

But when he ousted him in favour of Lewis, it had nothing to do with Lee and everything to do with the blond barbie boy himself. Andrew wanted Lewis for Joseph. The choice that night was very easy for him because, of the boys left, Lewis was his favourite and Daniel his least favourite. He must have just stuck his fingers in his ears during the sing off because Daniel took Lewis and wiped the floor with him.

Andrew didn't mind Lee, he was 'insurance Joseph', the professional he could compromise on. But his choice was Lewis and he got the cheesiest VTs (complete with Nana Jean) and what Andrew thought were the best songs. When Lewis was in the bottom two for the first time, Andrew decided it was because of his pushy stage school mother and made sure that we never saw her again. He saved and saved again to get him into the final and then stepped over Keith Jack to give Lewis holiday Joe. Apparently, after his first performance, he told him he was better than Lee.

If you look at Andrew's reaction to Lee's win, it's clear that he wasn't utterly thrilled. Happy enough, sure, but Lee didn't get anywhere near near the amount of publicity and gush from Andrew that Connie did.

Interesting, Jill and I have found common ground .
Totally agree about Lewis, see post below. The bottom two thing is very interesting. I'm not sure, because, like I say, I think that Andrew had Lee marked down as his insurance, and you don't go throwing your insurance way until you are one hundred per cent sure your plan A is a winner.

However, I've long believed that if Lee and Lewis had been in the bottom two together in the first half of the competition, Lee would have gone. Again, impossible to prove. I'm not sure what he would have done towards the end, when it was becoming clear that Lewis wasn't cutting it. I'd say that situation was Andrew's worst possible scenario.

I also believe that if Keith Jack had found himself in the bottom two, he would have been toast.

I was agreeing with Jill..........

Im agreeing with you, Daniel didnt LOOK like joseph but neither did anyone else except Lee. Duhhhhh

I think they new early on that Lewis was not going to make it.......he was always in tears. His emotional stability was a worry also, he also had a weak vocal range.

It just proves the amount of manipulation in these shows does go on. Judging is about just that....Judging...not picking favourites......its this kind of behavour that is ruining the show.

Did you read that bit about Connie?

Totally agree about Keith too! Still can't make my mind up what he thought of Ben. I mean he saved him three times but I always thought its because he was the better option than the other person. I suppose that was confirmed when he was booted for Lewis.

To this day I can't get what ALW saw in Lewis I thought he was the least talented of the final 12.

I think they saw something in him in the audition stages which never materialised on the live shows. They also wanted a David Beckham look alike who could sing - cue Lewis enters!

I saw Lewis at the dream on concert and to me he was stand out. It is just a shame he hasn't been allowed to go away and get some experience in a show which he is not carrying aka Ben or the touring Joseph show. I think ALW has done him a disservice giveing him Lee's cover and the seat sales have born that out.

Jessie reminded me of Lewis - very talented but perhaps not mature enough to cope at this exact moment in time. Like, lewis I doubt she would have been let go if in the bottom two.

Oh Caspy, you me and Jill, all agreeing together.

I think I submitted my post before I read your reply. Both Lee and Daniel were very talented all rounders. They were head and shoulders above the rest of the competition.

I thought Daniel would make a great Joseph actually, one of my favourite memories of him is that bit where they sang in front of their mothers in their loin clothes (I know, it's still disturbing, even now). It was so cute the way he sang 'all those things you saw in your pajamas' But I agree that the public in general thought Lee was physically a better match for the part.

It's a shame that Andrew is such a sucker for the pretty youngsters with average ability (Siobhan, Lewis, Sam).

On Connie, there were a few occasions on the show where I thought the inner bitch came through a bit. Basically the public were prepared to forgive a great deal, her sub-par performances towards the end, the fact that she really wasn't that likeable, because she looked like Julie Andrews.

Yes its all very strange.....I think I must have skipped a tablet or something........

I think Daniel saw what was happening and knew before we did......he then used it as a springboard for his PR. The sing off Bring Hime Home.............Daniel was amazing.....it was the song of the show.

Producers must have sat up and thought.......ALW got rid of HIM.....he mad.....

I saw a video on Youtube where Connie was saying that if voters weren't willing to pay (x)p to vote for Helena, then why should they pay to see her in a show...meow!

Helena was in the bottom two a lot, but it still wasn't a nice thing to say.

Loved Abi. How could anyone forget her?

Meliz is the one that people don't remember, for some reason.

But to be fair Daniel said the same thing about Ben. I do think they encourage them to back stab each other for our benefit. i wish someone would point out that we are more savy than that!!

They do make them say something negative at one point, but they can probably choose what they want to say. The things that the girls said on I'd Do Anything weren't that bad.

I dont think Daniel said they are very selective in what they broadcast........and you could see that.

why they think that we fall for it........or are that dumb we cant see through it..........ill never know

What site did you read this on?

About the tour, it had been barely advertised for a very short period of time, and they pulled the plug in February long before the tour was supposed to happen. They also booked her in huge arenas which do not seem ideal for a musical theatre performer. I had heard that a few of the cities were selling quite well, but there were also many of Connie's fans who did not even know there was a tour because of the bad advertising. Apparently, when she was still in SOM and people would go visit her at the stage door, she would ask people if they were coming to the tour and very few people even knew there was a tour. I wouldn't blame that on Connie--I'd blame it on bad advertising and poor management by the promoters. If it didn't sell as well as they'd liked, it's because they didn't give it a chance.

I know for sure that Connie has a TV drama coming up at Christmas and a second album due out around the same time. She apparently has other projects in the pipeline, as well. I wouldn't write her off just yet.
