Sagem myX-6 help.
So I used to have a pretty old Siemens c35e which I wanted to upgrade, but I wanted to stay on the same monthly tariff and keep my number.
So I goes into a shop and explains this to the dude and he says "okay, sure, just get the Sagem myX-6 and put your old SIM card in that, no problem". I did that - but when I got home I found I couldn't access the internet or send picture messages. Is it because I have an old SIM card in the new phone? Is the salesman an idiot? Do I need to buy a new SIM card, and if so, could I keep my old number? |

No, you just need to set up your GPRS information.
Search on google for, WAP settings for (network) or.. GPRS settings for (network) |

Hi,
Are you with orange, and are you on a contract or pay as you go, In either case if on Orange as I am, I had to ring them to activate my MMS as I did the same as you I had a Nokia 3310 themn bought the X6 and used my old sim card, you will therefor need to ring orange. regarding the wap, if you copy the settings in the user manual it should be o.k. but you may need to have GPRS activated as well especially if the old phone didnt have a wap facility on it, then they would not have activated it either. hope this helps Robert

Thanks both, just rung Orange and had MMS and GPRS activated. Got a bit of a lecture from the woman on the other end about doing a "backdoor upgrade" but she sent the SIM update and (even though she was convinced it wouldn't work) it's all working nicely.
The bleedin bloke in the shop never mentioned ringing anyone!

Hi, all
Papyrus, If you are going to usethe simcard that comes with the phone you will get a new number and "should" not have any probs, but dont bank on it. you still may need to ring. if you are on pay as you go just dial 451 or if contract 150. afx237vi, The woman really had no right to lecture you, as I pointed out to the customer services lady I was dealing with, that as orange Do not allow you to port your number to that sim card you get with the phone,(unless its from a rival company) there is not much choice but to swap sims, then she went on to say that if I were to up grade the 3310 I had they would be able to do it officially, but I also pointed out to her that it would cost me £179:99 to upgrade the handset (as I was on the OVP Virgin tarrif), where as If I bought the My X6 (on pay as you go) it (at the time) cost me £129:99 Now there only £99:99, and I dont see why I, or any other person should pay the extra. after that she seemed to change her tune, although she was not being funny, and even said that if I were you i would be doint that as well. |
