I Phone Off Ebay
Hi
Im buying an I Phone off Ebay at the moment. I dont want to get locked into a contract so am buying one of the unlocked phones. Is it just the same as buying one off O2? The phone wont suddenly stop working in a few weeks will it if O2 find out that Im using it? One of the descriptions on Ebay says do not Update the phone as this will result in it relocking? Thanks |

You might as well just buy one new from a store. They can be purchased at point of sale without a contract, and can be unlocked in 45 seconds with a piece of software.
I would wait until at least Monday though, when the new one is introduced. That will at least unleash a flood of older iPhones to the second hand market, or you may be be able to pick up a refurbished model in the weeks to come. |

I just spoke to O2 on the phone as I already have a couple of contracts with them and was trying to get one off them and they said that they are no longer doing them and that they have withdrawn them.
I said will they be doing them again soon when they come back into stock and he said no, they are no longer dealing with the I Phone at all - anybody know whats going on? |

I'm thinking about buying an iPhone when the new one is announced tomorrow. If I unlock it using software such as iLiberty+, and then I update the iPhone and it ends up locking itself, can I just use that software to unlock it again?

You can on the current iPhone, really simply. Obv no one knows how easy the new iPhone will be to unlock, or if the current apps like ziPhone will be able to unlock it yet, prob not, we'll have to wait a few weeks til they come up with a way to unlock it.

It's been reported in the past that o2 have signed a pretty long deal with Apple to carry the iPhone, so it's fairly certain they'll be selling the 3G version.
Apple are very tight with information about future products, which explains the o2 CSRs' lack of information. HTC make some nice hardware, but it's generally always let down by the archaic structure of Windows Mobile. The sheer amount of extra pieces of software, drivers and fixes makes for a terrible user experience. |

You'll just have to buy one of these! Even though it's a pre-production model it looks pretty cool. I love the windscreen wipers! |
