you can thank Michael Flatley and Eurovision for the US wanting Irish singers/dancers there performing and Michael Flatley was raised in Chicago and is primarily American. Celtic Tiger is sooooooooo pro American.

[quote=piper333;24383762]well, it is a good stepping stone part, and don't forget a lot of well known actresses have played this part so it isn't really not a step down to anyone who plays it. i know it is not a huge lead role, but she would have learned with it.

[quote]

I'd prefer her to get a part independantly.

Yes, she would have learned - just as she will elsewhere.

With Nancy she would have had to deal with going into MT direct from a reality TV win and all the bitchiness that incurs. I don't think she was emotionally ready for that sort of thing. She may have got a slating from the critics re: accent and/or acting - not the best of career starts.

OK, she may have been the perfect Eastender and picked up fantastic movement by the time opening night came but she might not and, I think, it is too much of a risk to take with one so young and so talented.

He certainly opened the door, its a shame they let him down on the original show. I enjoyed watching it, he can do 48 taps persecond.....he beat his own record of 28..lol

Having read about what has happened to Connie I can understand where you are coming from. Although the critics liked her, it is clear now she's had a rough ride from the MT community and I've no idea whether she helped make life difficult for herself, but either way it has opened my eyes to what Jodie or Jessie with no real MT experience may be in for. Jodie may ride it out and has other strings to her bow, but Jessie's just starting out and it could wreck her.

I thought I read they couldn't go to the loo in costume, so perhaps she was dying to go by then LOL!

im gettting away from the tinkling now............no more.....lol

Yes it looks like they didnt take to her, or maybe she approached it the wrong way. Or maybe she was seen as ALW pet. I can understand someone treading the boards for years getting really cheesed off.

Not sure how she would handle it.......but it looked like she was told she was unprofessional out in the public arena......

said her 15 mins of fame is about up, but again if ALW rated her, you would think he would have a job for her

There was an interview in one of the threads.ask Buddy she can find it all the time.

But it says Connie's concerts have all been cancelled - people in the know said in 200,000 seats she only sold 200 the cast were not nice to her and made her life a misery.

Her tour show has also been cancelled......etc etc

What I dont understand is if Connie was as brilliant as ALW told us she was, why is he not employing her...

Awwww that's really sad.
That is weird how he's not employing her.
Were the cast horrible to her on The sound of music?
Not many people can be that impressed with her if only 200 people bought concert tickets. But maybe a lot weren't in the know about it.

Connie is currently filming for either ITV or BBC in a drama- good to see she is trying out a few other things. She really had no let up for 2 years with all the audition process and then into rehearsals quite quickly afterwards. Apparently ALW has something lined up for her once she has done this.
i am cross about the tour - I did not even know there was a tour until it was cancelled - if I'd have known I would have definately booked tickets.

A lot of me wanted Jessie to win because i just loved her voice and vitality, but my sensible side knew it wouldn't be right because she would have been criticised at some point and don't think it would have been easy for her to cope with as she was so knew at that game. It really wrecked Connie's expereice who sounds like she did not enjoy it as much as she hoped, people were looking out for her to fail, and think that the same would have happened to Jessie.

yes she is playing a car warden or something like that..

ALW has put music to the lyrics that Tim Rice wrote in 1966, didnt take him long..........
I think there must be abit of the MT comunity who resent these people getting parts through TV shows...its abit mean spirited, coz they could have applied too if they wanted too.

Having just read that about Connie I am now relieved Jessie didn't win IDA. I worry now about Jodie since she doesn't have the support of ALW. I hope she can cope with whatever they try to throw at her in MT circles. No-one who has had to audition week after week in front of millions should be treated with any disrespect from any quarter.

BTW Thanks for the uploads vanjos.

I think she is a stalking car attendant and is the main character. A sort of psychological thriller to try and stop her being type cast and show her versatility.
Now then here's an idea, after seeing Lee and Connie singng a Phantom song at Christmas together, and Rhydian's famous x factor performance, I wish ALW would have all 3 of them on stage playing the 3 lead parts - wouldn't that make a stunning sell out performance??

Yes I think that winning a show like this, is a good thing, because they get their dream role. But on the other hand, for people who have never been in the west end, it might be quite difficult to live up to what is expected of them.
I really hope it's not true that the cast all hated Connie.
Jodie will be fine. I think that she can take critisism and it won't bring her down at all.
I'm begining to think that maybe the judges were right about being so harsh on IDA, because it's preparing the contestants for what it's really like out there.
They have to be the best, or they will be ripped to shreads

I made one. But I still think that she is talented. She doesn't deserve to be shunned by the people that she is working with!
