TBH when Maria first started I remember thinking about well how the winner would be received by her colleagues and then I got so caught up in the show it went out of my mind.

I've only read good things about Connie since she won (I don't mean when she became unwell!), and it was a shock to hear how horrible people have been to her. Horrible but not entirely unexpected.

I was thrilled when she won and now it does make me wonder if there is a poison chalice waiting for Jodie, particularly of CM doesn't get behind her.

I've no doubt Jodie will rise to the challenge and I hope she continues to live her dream as time goes on.

Yes I think that she may have made a bad name for herself.
You know the shows do bring the winners a lot of publicity, but other actors might think that she only got the part becuase the public liked her, and that this was unfair.
Some of them may think that it's some sort popularity contest. I think it's just jelousy mainly, because they have had to audition in a different way.
They don't want Jodie to steal the show becasue of her background. Let's hope that the cast in oliver are nice people that's all I can say.

I think to have to audition in the way Connie, Lee and Jodie had to was a mch more gruelling process since they had to perform for millions each week. Those who acheived their parts in the more traditional fashion should take their hats off to anyone who has had to endure such a process. makes one wonder then are they a little bit intimidated by the newbie's popularity (and just a tad resentful).

I agree, soo much. They have had to prove themselves to the public each week, Not just to ALW and such.
Plus they weren't chosen because they were already famous.
The ones who auditioned in the traditional way only had to impress, a handfull of people.
The ones who went on tv every saturday had to impress millions.
But you can see why the proffesionals have a problem with being upstaged. A lot of people will go and see oliver, to watch Jodie. Many won't even know who the other actors are. Well apart from Rowan

Lying? No I think she really was recognised by the salesperson and got a discount on her shoes.

Seriously though, what part do you think she is being less than honest about?

I was joking In every interview I've heard shes says "I'm not going to lie to you...." about 10 times!

I'm not going to lie to you, but to be perfectly honest, to tell you the truth, I noticed that too.

I won't lie
She says it every five seconds. I was laughing so much.
She sure can talk. About nothing all day, and still be funny.

Connie is currently filming for either ITV or BBC in a drama- good to see she is trying out a few other things. She really had no let up for 2 years with all the audition process and then into rehearsals quite quickly afterwards. Apparently ALW has something lined up for her once she has done this.
i am cross about the tour - I did not even know there was a tour until it was cancelled - if I'd have known I would have definately booked tickets.

A lot of me wanted Jessie to win because i just loved her voice and vitality, but my sensible side knew it wouldn't be right because she would have been criticised at some point and don't think it would have been easy for her to cope with as she was so knew at that game. It really wrecked Connie's expereice who sounds like she did not enjoy it as much as she hoped, people were looking out for her to fail, and think that the same would have happened to Jessie.”

yes she is playing a car warden or something like that..

ALW has put music to the lyrics that Tim Rice wrote in 1966, didnt take him long..........
I think there must be abit of the MT comunity who resent these people getting parts through TV shows...its abit mean spirited, coz they could have applied too if they wanted too.[/quote]

this quoting thing is off, but i am quoting Casper. i thought this ITV drama was a one off show too.

as far as people not buying her tickets, that is down to the public i would think. maybe it is those ticket prices again? lol
when it comes to the MT community treating her badly, it was my thought, that it was people who already had a part in the play she joined and others who had parts in productions. they can be catty to one another anyway, i am sure wherever you come from when someone new joins the cast. this of course doesn't always happen. if they already had parts in a west end show they wouldn't be auditioning for a reality show. it is the whole thing of them doing it the "hard" way of auditioning for their parts in the past and a lot of current artists/actors/dancers cannot stand the reality show genre for this reason.

I agree that a lot of it is jealousy, but Connie didn't strike me as the most humble person in the world, and I can imagine her grating on some people.

true. but there are plenty of board treaders who have been around a long time and i think it is immature to treat someone badly. this is not just done in MT. anywhere in the industry, when someone new comes along i am sure there is a lot of this crap. it is kind of sickening. i don't envy Jodie, or Connie or Lee. Lee probaby had it easier because he had already been on the WE stage with Phantom, and was an understudy as well. I thought Connie had been an understudy as well and so should have been known a bit, but it didn't seem to matter.

Jodie will have more to prove than Lee and Connie did, so I hope she manages to pull it off. At least Nancy isn't a lead role as such (although it's not that minor either).

I am hoping this cast is better for Jodie too. I am racking my brain to think of who in SOM who would treat Connie so badly. and with Connie, it wasn't like she was a nobody, she had paid a lot of dues in the MT genre from what she said and has been written of her work prior to the reality show.

Casper-that was another point i wanted to mention btw...why it is baffling why the MT people don't like her. she was not just an unknown thrust into the part. i really think Jodie will be treated better, but it depends on who is all in the cast. the Olivers may have it a bit better?

only a handful of people eh? very powerful people who are a lot more rude than a panel on a live tv show.

i didn't realize Connie had won the London's critic award as well, i thought someone said the critics weren't behind her.

Yes only a handfull of people before they get the part. They may be powerfull and more rude than the panel. but at least those actors don't have to battle it out for ten weeks on tv.
I know which way I'd rather audition.

BTW Thanks for the uploads vanjos.”

it doesnt say much for the people in the cast that did this. Jodie is thicker skinned, its the public that matter most. Im sure JB will help her in this area.

It doesnt say much for the MT community that it would be allowed and action not taken to stop this type of behaviour. It wouldnt be allowed in work place, duty of care etc. But then they are a bunch of luvvies.......

it might have worked against her, maybe the cast would have thought she would have got it in the neck and since she didnt they thought then they would have to do it.....initiation rights etc.

sad people

these girls obviously wanted the television exposure and knew what they were going to go through. there are many more perks to this kind of audition
mentoring by excellent teachers and getting ALW and CM to know who you are
living together and supporting one another
doing shows
seeing a west end show and getting the chance to perform
movie premiers, meeting celebrities

the other way, going home to your flat and wallowing and waiting for your next opportunity.

i know which way i would rather audition.

Jodie says that too! Is it the new cool catchphrase?

Jessie comes across as SUCH a nice girl. She has bags of personality too. Love her singing KMS and maybe I'm in the ninority here BUT I really liked her dress too.
