Personally, I couldn't care less what any of 'em look like.
What I took umbrage to was the suggestion that the inclusion of so-called 'totty' is what has attracted the female viewers, and nothing else, which is what the article suggests. It's nonsense. As is the completely laughable assertion that the Apprentice is more likely to appeal to men than women (first line of article). As a female who has watched the show from the first series onwards, and as someone who couldn't give a rat's backside about the candidates' appearance, I am irked by the ridiculous assumption that this is what attracts me to the show. Hence I have said as much and will continue to do so. Thank you and goodnight. ![]() |

It's insulting that they believe all women are shallow and only pay interest in a programme due to the attractiveness of the male contestants... I watch the Apprentice purely because it's interesting and entertaining.
Besides, if I was watching just for the 'totty', it certainly wouldn't be in the form of Lee and Alex, but rather Raef and Simon.

I think Alex is attractive. I also found Raef attractive. Nothing wrong with that - doesn't mean to say I would continue to watch a programme based on the physical attributes of any contestant. I see the journalist made no comment on those males who entertained erotic fantasies about some women participants; last year Karen Bremner was the cause of some stirring of the loins as I recall and even Katie motivated some sexual arousal Quote:
Hold on a minute. After the first show of this series, this and any other internet board you cared to visit was brimming with comments from female viewers about how good the male totty was this year and now female viewers are supposed to be offended that someone has stated the same blatantly obvious point in a publication.
I always thought it was men who think with the bottom half of their anatomy - but then, I'm just a silly woman - what would I know? Quote:
I'm sure many women do find some of the male contestants attractive. But then, don't many men find some of the females attractive too? I know I fancied a couple of them!
The point is, most people, male or female, don't really watch for that reason.

I actually didn't mind, and I'm usually very dedicated to my humourless feminism!
I think it's because I actually DO feel really pleased that this is the first reality TV show I have EVER seen where the average male contestant is more physically attractive than the average female contestant. It's just a refreshing change, is all. I kind of like feeling that I'm being pandered to a little bit. Heterosexual male viewers get pandered to like this all the time, it's just normalised so nobody notices. It's not that men are watching the show for w*nk fodder exactly, it just seems more like it's expected that there will be decorative women on any given show for the benefit of male viewers. So the columnist is dumb for not realising that. And I bet more women than men watch The Apprentice anyway. But still, I do actually think it's a good thing to have more attractive men on TV... tat for tit! That said, no more like Alex pls. I now can't understand how I ever saw his as good looking; his personality has annoyed me for weeks and now his face does the same! |

Glad (some) ladies happy.
Not much eye candy for blokes on this program. I'll just hop over to Virgin at 11:00pm. |

The whole thing has moved away from a business show in to nothing more than a Big Brother variant.
Posing in Heat?!?!* Yeah, that will help them get taken seriously in business meetings. Sugar should be embarrassed to hire any of the sad little wannabees. *Alex in a state of undress? Skinny fool. |

Staying up to 3(?) months in the house does disrupt earnings. Presumably The Apprentice would pay some expenses but not much? There is still mortgage/rent to be paid in the real world.

Firstly, I am undoubtedly taking this too seriously, but I don't care.
![]() I just read this interesting Telegraph article, and nearly fell off my chair at one point: PARDON? Haven't women been tuning into the last 3 series of this show then? I for one have watched it from the start. I don't know whether to be more insulted by the daft sexism of this assumption, or the suggestion that I might find any of this year's motely crew attractive. The bloody cheek.... and if the article's author is female, then she needs a good slap followed by an eye test. JOKE!!!

I sort of know what the author means. Why the hell are half naked pics of so-called serious business people being being posted in rags like Heat I wonder?
Fortunately most people watch the show as a bit of light entertainment and without the sickly fangirl adoration of the "good looking" contestants |

Well that might account for her romantic and unrealistic perspective on the process.

The serving hatch had a rectangular shape similar to the tele and imbedding it, resulting in a psychedelic 3-D effect.

I see you're back. Funny how you disappeared when the poster who was supposed to be Lucinda turned up... Quote:

Oh, is that really the best you can do, my trolling friend? I give you a grade of D- . You really should try harder. I see you're back. Funny how you disappeared when the poster who was supposed to be Lucinda turned up... Well that post rates an F and is appropriately fatuous and fantastical too. To suggest that somehow I am scared of Lucinda is quite an extraordinary piece of fantasy logic, but perhaps one worthy of a confused-by-the-world Lucinda obsessive who is as detached from reality as Lucinda and seemingly shares her wish to inhabit a fanciful alternative world dominated by herbs, Feng Shui, berets and feelings that is untainted with logic or evidence. |

I wasn't for a second suggesting that you were scared of Lucinda - who in their right mind would be scared of her? I was implying that it was that you pretending to BE her on this forum. Now, go back to playing with your toys, or even better, go back to Yahoo Answers where you'll find plenty of likeminded children. |

...considering the preponderance of 'I'd shag Alex/Lee/Simon/Raef' (delete as applicable) posts I'd say the author wasn't a million miles off the mark. I've followed every series of TA both on TV and on here and I've never seen quite as much gushing as this year.

My beef is with the suggestion that women are tuning into this series largely because of the candidates looks, when in fact many of us have followed the show from the first episode, because we enjoy the programme and have an interest in business, occupational psychology, career development, and/or commerciality. I find the article's suggestion that the majority of new female viewers only watch for the sake of 'eye candy' rather tragic in its assumption and completely inaccurate. |
