Does anyone know what Sir Alan's salary is from the BBC for doing the apprentice?

Whatever his fee is, it's paid to charity.

Do you think?

I don't think he gives it to charity. He's a business man.

I'm sure he donates to charity and I'm sure he donates generously. But he will be paid by the BBC for doing the show.

I read somewhere (and it wasn't a tabloid, but I can't remember where) that his fee is paid to a charity of his choice.

Donald Trump makes millions and millions out of his series, using his own production company.

First link I found that mentions it:
Quote:
“The great broadcasting genius of Sugar is that he's the daddy you want to impress. Egotistical, foul-mouthed, yes. But he's an honest broker. He even donates his Apprentice fee to Great Ormond Street Hospital. As he observes: 'I'm not doing this show to be famous, I'm doing it because it's interesting.'
”

I'm sure there's more.

Don't you remember back in 2005 when Suralan became the face of National Savings? He declared loudly on the tv ads that he was donating his fee for them to Great Ormond Street children's hospital? He is doing the same thing here.

Edit: Didn't see the post above mine before posting this.

From The Observer 23 March 2008

"Sugar took the job on The Apprentice because he wanted to be a role model. So keen was he that he requested no payment and when the BBC insisted, he gave his money to the Great Ormond Street Hospital. And in many ways - his self-made status, for example, and charitable donations - he is a fine example. But it's nevertheless true that while the public may appreciate the hard hours he's put into his business, and the hard cash he's taken out, as regards the business itself, they mostly look down, not up."

Good on him. he probaly does not need the fee and I am so happy it is going to a UK charity

Why do people doubt he donates his fee to charity?
It's widely known he does.

All this garbage about "he's a business man" doesn't mean he can't be generous - the fee is probably an insignificant amount to him.

It says more about the people doubting Sir Alan than it does about him. Don't judge him by your own standards.

I stand corrected. I think its great of him to do this.

Still doesn't answer the question of how much he earns for it.

Surely the BBC declare what they pay so can;t understand why the information isn't out there.

No - BBC pay contracts are confidential. Even Jonathon Woss's millions has never been confirmed by the BBC.

Actually it does

Although it doesn't answer the question "How much does Great Ormond Street hospital earn for the apprentice?"

He donates it to the charity. It's not BBC who donate it.

Oh wow that's so nice I never knew that. Good for him!

Makes it easier on the tax return and potential IHT liability as well!

When you get to the stage that this guy's at, you do the programme for charity and self promotion, plus a little self indulgence! Nothing wrong with that, IMO!

Well Nick and Margaret do all the legwork - he just swans in and out for the boardroom and almost half his explanations of the task at the start are delivered by phone/video. Its not really that big a commitmentfor him anyway - but lots of good publicity.

Which charity did Donald Trump give his fee to?

I have no doubt that Sir Al donates to charity but to suggest he signed up for the apprentice for purely altruistic reasons is a bit far-fetched. I suspect getting his face and his company on prime time BBC had a bit to do with it!!

Definitely, he could hardly turn down the publicity offered by the series and he was able to do things like promote his silly flying card thingy company on the programme for which his son was responsible ( I wonder how he got that job?)

Giving money to charity = tax relief.

Anyway it's still good of him to do so.

I don't suppose you have any idea what they get paid?
