Well, Dom_, since there isn't a Mario site (yet) why don't we demonstrate what a collective dollop of Great British pluck, pizzazz and spunk can do when added to the Great British innovation that is Do It Yourself? Why it's plucky, spunky Do It Ourselves – with pizzazz!

I suspect that the reason this Official Mario Appreciation Thread has only 28 posts is that the vast majority of Mario Fans are FAMing – that is, we're sharing a huge range of wild, weird and wonderful Facts about Mario – over 152 pages and 3,789 Facts already! So I'm cross-posting this update to help point folks in the right direction for some FAMmy goodness, and to see if you'd appreciate, and optionally like to help build, a Mariopedia Wiki.

Hey Fellow FAMsters!

A big Marioista Welcome to all our new readers and contributers. This thread's proving to be so popular, well loved and just so damn PMSL/RAOFLMAO funny that several folks have floated the idea of a Mariopedia Wiki to preserve these, our treasured Facts About Mario for posterity as a UNESCO World Heritage Website. I've volunteered to capture the mood, test the water, run it up the flagpole and see who salutes, er, ... get an idea of what FAMsters think, I guess is the gist of where I was going with this one.

So on the basis of the ephemeral attention-grabyness of a DS BB thread post, I'm posting regular updates on this capture the mood, test the water, ... etc, &c. process, to encourage more folks to express their opinion on the concept and optionally volunteer as a Mariopedia Wiki builder.

Remember – voting YES! Jolly Good Idea!! plus No, I'm not a Wiki Builder is, in and of itself, A Jolly Good Idea, as it encourages we would be wiki builders that our efforts will be appreciated. And of course, even if you can't commit to being a wiki builder now or ever, which is just fine and dandy, as and when our Mariopedia Wiki does exists, then ANYBODY can transfer quality Facts about Mario from here to there, which will be wonderful!

Proposal: A Mariopedia Wiki

Dear FAM Marioistas,


I've been thinking along the same lines, reggiethedog, and floating the idea in a PM or two, so perhaps now's the time to play my hand, so to speak. I could set a Mariopedia up at Wikia quite easily, and transferring comedy gold from our FAM thread here --> our Mariopedia wiki there would most likely do me good (see FAM as Anti-Depressant Therapy as to why).

BUT... I would not only like it to be a collective decision and effort, I'd kinda suggest those two as a pre-requisite.

So... my suggestion is that IF we get, say, at least 20 people who think a Mariopedia wiki is a good idea, AND at least 6 people willing to commit to wiki building for at least 30 mins a day for at least the next 14 days* (other unanticipated higher priorities notwithstanding), THEN we have a Green Light to "Go Johnny Go Go Go Go", ELSE we consider our options in light of developments, ENDIF .

* for a minimum of 42 person-hours total over 2 weeks: just an educated guess

So, on the assumption that although this proposal comes from a self-confessed fruit-loop, the proposal itself falls on the less deranged side of the 'Sane' demarkation line, here's what I want you to do right now — if you have an opinion you'd like to express, that is (and before a voting deadline of 02:00 on Mon 30 Jun 08, ie: three days hence [from its 1st posting – d61]).

I'm all for open, direct democracy, but if you'd prefer privacy, you can vote by PMing me too. I'll commit to tallying responses, posting progress updates, and generally keeping and eye on things (other unanticipated higher priorities notwithstanding). And my response is 'Yes' to 1 and 2 above, so we're both 1/20th and 1/6th of the way to a Green Light already, if you get my drift.

Just want to lend my support to the the legend

I liked Mario from the start, then slightly changed my opinion but after the whole fight thing, I really like him again Him and Mikey dancing in the garden tonight made me smile.

I wanna leave now

Mario will not go on Friday, with two national newspapers behind him and an unestimatable amount male following (many that would never normally vote on BB) he should be well safe.

Will be sorry to see him go if he gets the boot tonight ... he's about the only thing that's keeping me slightly interested.
