Thomson DTI 6300-25 acting up

I have had a Thomson DTI 6300-25 for aboout 3 months now, everything has been fine with it until last week. I turned it on to watch BBC1 and a black screen appeared, the EPG banner was fine and told me what I was supposed to looking at, but no picture.

I flicked around other channels and the results were the same, no picture. Some channels had a white square at the top middle of the screen with an aerial symbol and an "X" beside it.

Fiddled with all the connections nothing. I then noticed that turning the volume up I was rewarded with 1 second ( or less of dialogue ( say one half a word in 10)

I then tried turning off , waiting and turning back on, same result. I then tried a rescan and the box found 70 odd channels, EPG also loaded fine.

I'm not having a lot of luck this week as my Sky Box is also playing up !

Anyone had a similar problem with the Thomson DTI 6300-25 ?

Its not recording programmes from the planer anymore ( It just says "missed", but I can watch programmes from the library without problems

Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks

Sounds like it could be hardware failure. In which case you have little to lose by trying a factory reset. You will obviously lose your existing recordings and if it doesn't help you will need to get the box replaced anyway.

PS. Just out of curiousity your are not using Sutton Coldfield or one of its relays as your transmitter are you?

re Sutton colefield - no I'm not on Hertfordshire/Bedfordshire border. I think Sandy

How do I do a "factory reset ?" I guess I could put any recordings I wanted to keep to DVD or VHS before doing it

Thanks
