Apprentice loser to be given council job
No not sweeping the streets but a real job Quote:
Council leader Lord Hanningfield said: "Essex County Council is as ambitious as any private company. We unashamedly want the best and brightest to come and work for us.
Does he ever watch the programme! No wonder people think poorly of their local council but perhaps an opportunity for us to suggest jobs for them...Alex as traffic warden? |

your right ... Essex County Council are prepared to offer The Apprentice runner-up a job.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/essex/7443817.stm "It said it would be a boost for the county where Sir Alan Sugar's firm Amstrad - at which the four finalists are competing to work - is also based. - Sir Alan Sugar's company is based right here in Essex" |

I think the council should give Alex the job of mopping up dog turds.

So they've got £100,000 spare to employ someone with no discernible interest in local government - presumably out of their PR budget.
If I lived in Essex I'd be withholding my council tax. |

Perhaps they could give whoever it is the job of wheeling the wheelie bins to the side of the road for old ladies who can't manage it.

I might be mistaken, but isn't Lord Hanningfield directly breaching local council policy concerning 'equality of opportunity' for recruitment i.e., they can't cherry pick a person for a job but rather there should be an open recruitment drive (excluding cases were people are being made redundant and need a new internal job etc.)
Sounds to me like he's talking a load of PR bol*cks. |

Sounds to me like he's talking a load of PR bol*cks. I like Claire, but Town Crier would be perfect for her. Lee has to work in the PR dept, he can bull'sht a brick wall into believing its a ceiling. Helene is going to the Park and Gardens, they have her spot picked out already in Hainault Country Park. Shame the pigeons like to shit on the statues. As for Alex, he would do well in the Family Planning Clinics around Essex, teenage pregnancies would plummet when they see what birth control can prevent.

From what I read, there isn't actually a job available. They will be making a new job, new title and offering it to the runner up. Whether they take it is another matter, but seems they might be able to get around that 'equality' issue this way.

Why would they want to advertise that they have the person who didn't win.
I suppose he did make it to the interviews but he was therefore only top five yet BT thought they'd won the big prize!!! |

They're all underqualified for street sweeping and bin collecting.

This is Essex. From what I hear it has it's fair share of juvenile delinquents. As a rehab process for them all I would hire Claire and make her conduct the birdy song with them all until they promise to change their ways. |
