Can anyone tell me why this error may occur even though the sim card in inseted propperly, and the contacts are clean? I need help urgently, the phone in question is a Nokia 5110, which I sold on ebay, apparently the buyer has tried 3 sim cards and always gets the same problem. The weird thing is that the phone worked fine when I posted it. I do have a policy of no returns, and that was mentioned in the auction, due to the fact I had a buyer that demanded a refund, and returned the goods as apparently they were DoA, but when I got them back they worked fine. Please can someone tell me why this might be happening?

he brought it without a simcard. I used it with a BT cellnet PAYG simcard for a year, and a vodafone contract for 2 years, and NEVER had a problem.

I am a little confused about what to do now then. I can pay £1 a minute to call nokia to find out. They are demanding a refund and to return it, even though the auction clearly stated no returns, and it was fine when sent.

If the auction said no returns then they can't do anything.Even if they go to Ebay so I wouldn't bother phoning Nokia its there problem now lol

I had exactly the same problem on T-Mobile. I took the phone and chip into my local retailer. He had no answers but put my chip into his T-Mobile phone and it worked fine. When replaced back into my phone it worked fine. Transposing the sim card into another same network phone may work...

...I've had no problems since.

Let me know if you've/the buyer has tried this way.

I actually went to my local T-Mobile shop today and refreshed the manager's memory as to this problem...

...He explained that sometimes sim cards need placing into another same network phone and this then resets the sim. All credit, phone numbers etc remain intact.

This message has been written just for the record.

They probably just didn't want the phone.

I had this the other day. My phone had been working perfectly, then one evening i took it out my bag and it was on, but had no signal (which there should have been cos i was in a good area).

I turned it off, then on again, and it said 'insert sim card error'. I didnt know why as the sim card hadnt been removed. So i removed it, shoved it back in, and it was fine.

very strange
