Cindy in HO
Apologies if there are threads on this, couldn't see anything.
What the Hell has happened to Cindy? I seem to remember her being a very serious teenager and when she left she was on the run. But now she has returned as some camp pantomime overacted 'boo hiss' baddie. Ok, I realise her being upset and frightened is supposed to be an act, but it is so bad it is unbelievable Max would fall for it. Seems another HO character has had a complete personality transplant |

i'm hoping shes only going to be like this for a while. i didnt see the original cindy from what i remember.
i think shes meant to be 'overacting' cos of the situation she wants to be in or something |

I said exactly the same thing in the other thread! They've only brought Cindy back to add some long-term history to the show after Max leaves, but what is the point when she is effectively a different character? It seems to me like they couldn't tempt Davinia Taylopr back as Jude, so the HO story team thought they'd change Cindy into a bitch. Lazy storylining

i thought when she came back she was a little bit like her old self. Having watched H/O from the start, there were definatly times where she was a diva.

Did they really try to get Jude back? I wish they had succeeded, Jude was great. I might have even started watching again.

I'm so glad someone else has said this cos it's what I've been thinking since her return. Wonder if Mandy will have had a personality transplant too.

I'm not sure if they definately tried to tempt her back, but it seems that nu-Cindy is a faux imitation of Jude'c character ...
The comparison between the new Cindy and Jude is bang on, although Cindy has been living with her in Spain for the past few years hasn't she?! So it's probably quite right that she's inherited some of her sister's traits. Was quite surprised by her attitude towards Mandy, the girls were once close friends. I remember the love triangle with Sol fondly. |

Actually when Cindy last came back in 04 she was a complete bitch cant people remember her trying to make Max sell drive and buy and the flats so if anything there hasnt been a personality transplant shes just got worse.

Sorry for going off topic a bit, but since we are talking about Jude, does anybody know if there are any old episodes online anywhere from the days of Jude, Lucy, Kurt, Jambo, Rob etc? To me that is the REAL hollyoaks before it got all big budget-y and rubbish.

There used to be an old episode from 1995 with Tony walking down the street ... not sure where it is. This is also moving a bit off topic, but with Cindy and Mandy coming back, which other characters from the early days would feasibly make a return? I'd love to see Lucy Benson come back ... but hopefully not as a Jude pastiche like all the rest!

The Ashworth's home was the Benson house originally wasn't it? I always found Lucy irritating but I wouldn't be against her returning but I find it difficult to see where she would fit in. Cindy and Mandy are both young (mid-20s) to feasibly be part of the cast but Lucy is closer to Tony in age. |

A lot of long running characters that return to a soap after a few years away tend to be caricatures of their former selves. Liz Mc Donald and Bet in Corrie, Nicola in Emmerdale and even as far back as Bev in Brookie (after returning rich having inherited money or won the lotto or something). I saw a bit of Hollyoaks last night and I have to agree that the actress who plays Cindy seems to be hamming it up big time.

I usually give characters a time to settle..but She NEEDS to go. As does Rafi actually. Hollyoaks deserve better than these.

Funny you should mention Lucy, I was just thinking yesterday that Fletch going cold turkey was reminscent of her own detox.

Didn't the actress who played Lucy not speak favourably about her time there, or it might have just been she found the heroin storyline hard? The actress hasn't done much, has she?, since Where the Heart is, I mean. |
