Sorry, only just watched Sats ep. When the Doc says "there's only one reason I'd tell someone my real name". All I could think of is they marry. Probably being dumb, but anyone have any other ideas?

It's certainly a possibility, another is that now the Doctor knows what happens to River he has to tell her his name to keep the timeline correct.

To avoid a paradox may be the only reason he would tell someone his name.

The production team have left things vague on purpose.

Perhaps he only tells someone whos about to die his name. He never actually said why he would have told her his name. The future him could have lied to her about why he told her his name.

Nah, thats such a boring reason, and just more denial that the Doc & River were in a relationship, probably married
