Should they make it a live final show next time?

I'm still not 100% sure how the You're Hired moment actually works. Apparently they film two endings, but I'm not sure when the winner is finally made aware that they have really won.

Hearing Lee and Claire today talking about 'the moment' SirAlan made his decision, it just seems so fake and put on. The truth is that neither of them knew who had been hired in the boardoom - they would have found out at some later date (by phone, face to face, who knows?)

Maybe next series they should show the task as a pre-recorded show, but then switch to the stuio show where SirAlan actually makes the final decision, there and then? Would be a lot more exciting and real, wouldn't it? It could still be recorded 'as live', but at least you would capture the moment when one person is hired, for real.

Watch the early US Apprentice finals and you will see why this is a bad idea!

In the Guardian yesterday Anna Pickard suggested that The Apprentice works so well because, unlike other reality shows, there isn't a live element. It looks more polished and less ramshackle than live shows. I'd imagine the boardroom would be a lot less effective with a live multi-camera setup.

It's worth pointing out also that other reality shows are done live mainly because they involve a public vote, and The Apprentice doesn't.

I think the whole show works really well *except* for the final You're Hired moment, because they have to fake it with 2 separate endings (apparently).

They had a fake boardroom which all changed to reveal a live studio audience, celebrity guests etc. By the time Donald got to the hiring the audience were so worked up it was more like a joke!
