What song lyrics do you feel have touched you, emotionally, the most??
At the moment these lyrics sound like they could have been written about/to me:
I wanted to be like you I wanted everything So I tried to be like you And I got swept away I didn't know that It was so cold And you needed someone To show you the way So I took your hand And we figured out That when the tide comes I'd take you away If you want to I can save you I can take you away From here So lonely inside So busy out there And all you wanted Was somebody who cares I'm sinking slowly So hurry hold me Your hand is all I have To keep me hanging on Please can you tell me So I can finally see Where you go When you're gone If you want to I can save you I can take you away From here So lonely inside So busy out there And all you wanted Was somebody who cares All you wanted was Somebody who cares If you need me You know I'll be there Oh, yeah If you want to I can save you I can take you away From here So lonely inside So busy out there And all you wanted Was somebody who cares Please can you tell me So I can finally see Where you go When you're gone Michelle Branch - All You Wanted |

this was a great one I listened to after a breakup not so long ago:
Do you eat, sleep, do you breathe me anymore? Do you sleep, do you count sheep anymore? Do you sleep anymore? Do you take plight on my tongue like lead? Do you fall gracefully into bed anymore? I saw you as you walked across my room. You looked out the window, you looked at the moon. And you sat on the corner of my bed, and You smoked with the ghost in the back of my head. I don't know, and i don't care If i ever will see you again. I don't know, and i don't care If i ever will be there. Do you eat, sleep, do you breathe me anymore? Do you sleep, do you keep me anymore? You kick my foot under the table, I kick you back; I can't say i'm able to Stand for you or Fall for you ever again. Wish for a perfect setting? Wishing that i am letting you Take me where you want me All over again? You can't give yourself absolutely to someone else. I don't know, and i don't care If i ever will see you again. I don't know, and i don't care If i ever will be there. I saw you as you walked across my room. You looked out the window, you looked at the moon. And you sat on the corner of my bed, and You smoked with the ghost in the back of my head. Do you eat, sleep, do you breathe me anymore? Do you sleep, do you count sheep anymore? Do you sleep anymore? I don't know, and i don't care if i ever will be there. Its called "Do You Sleep" by the fantastic Lisa Loeb alternatively there is Stronger by Sugababes, or the superb "Black" by Pearl Jam: Sheets of empty canvas, untouched sheets of plain Her legs spread out before me as her body holds still All five horizons revolved around her soul as the earth to the sun Now the air I tasted and breathed has taken a turn Oooo, and all I taught her was everything Oooo, I know she gave me yarn(?) that she wore And now my bitter hands shake beneath the clouds of what was everything All the pictures sent all been washed in black...tattooed everything I take a walk outside, I'm surrounded by some kids at play I can feel their laughter, so why do I sear? And twisted thoughts that spin round my head, I'm spinnin' Oh I'm spinnin', how quick a sun can drop away And now my bitter hands cradle broken glass of what was eve- rything All the pictures sent all been washed in black...tattooed everything All the love gone bad turned my world to black Tattooed all I see, all that I am, all that I'll be yeaheah Uhuh...uhuh...oooh I know someday you'll have a beautiful life I know you'll be a sun in somebody else's sky But why, why, why can't it be...how can I be more? ******************************************************* Though the best thing to do is probably talk to people

I am the son
And the heir Of a shyness that is criminally vulgar Iam the son and Heir of nothing in particular You shut your mouth How can you say I go about things the wrong way I am human and i need to be loved Just like everybody else does There's a club if you'd like to go You could meet someone who really loves you so you go, and you stand on your own And you leave on your own And you go home and you cry And you want to die When you say its going to happen "now" Well, when exactly do you mean? See I've already waited too long And all my hope is gone |

Come up to meet ya, tell you I'm sorry
You don't know how lovely you are I had to find you, tell you I need ya And tell you I set you apart Tell me your secrets, and ask me your questions Oh lets go back to the start Running in circles, coming in tails Heads on a science apart Nobody said it was easy It's such a shame for us to part Nobody said it was easy No one ever said it would be this hard Oh take me back to the start I was just guessing at numbers and figures Pulling the puzzles apart Questions of science, science and progress Do not speak as loud as my heart And tell me you love me, come back and haunt me Oh and I rush to the start Running in circles, chasing tails Coming back as we are Nobody said it was easy Oh it's such a shame for us to part Nobody said it was easy No one ever said it would be so hard I'm going back to the start Bar the odd couple of stupid sentances ( Running in circles, coming in tails Heads on a science apart ) the rest of it fits perfectly at the moment for me. |

Friday night I'm going nowhere
All the lights are changing green to red Turning over TV stations Situations running through my head Well looking back through time You know it's clear that I've been blind I've been a fool To open up my heart To all that jealousy, that bitterness, that ridicule Saturday I'm running wild And all the lights are changing red to green Moving through the crowd, I'm pushing Chemicals all rushing through my bloodstream Only wish that you were here You know I'm seeing it so clear I've been afraid To tell you how I really feel Admit to some of those bad mistakes I've made If you want it Come and get it Crying out loud The love that I was Giving you was Never in doubt Let go your heart Let go your head And feel it now Babylon, Babylon Sunday all the lights of London Shining, Sky is fading red to blue I'm kicking through the Autumn leaves And wondering where it is you might be going to Turning back for home You know I'm feeling so alone I can't believe Climbing on the stair I turn around to see you smiling there In front of me If you want it Come and get it Crying out loud The love that I was Giving you was Never in doubt And feel it now Let go your heart Let go your head And feel it now Let go your heart Let go your head And feel it now Let go your heart Let go your head And feel it now Let go your heart Let go your head And feel it now Babylon, Babylon, Babylon My break up song.

And from when i lived in urban blight:
Sometimes I fantasize When the streets are cold and lonely And the cars they burn below me Don't these times Fill your eyes When the streets are cold and lonely And the cars they burn below me Are you all alone? Are you made of stone? - The Stone Roses |

Oh no, the original makes sense, it just doesn't fit with the whole current emotional thingy.. I know what the lyrics were meant to be, it just seems that the site I copied them from is fairly crap.. For "And ask me your questions" they had "Nurse me your questions".... Weird.. Didnt bother checking the whole lot

Part I: Rise 'N Shine
Dawn wakes the silence, of a fainted lullaby Day breaks the eyelid, from a song sung in my eye Night rests in peace, as the sun mourns the sky All's accounted for sheep, over a horizon's I RISE, RISE 'N SHINE A NEW DAY IS COMING RISE, RISE IN TIME FOR EVERYTHING UNDER THE SUN And when you see, a south wind blow Forecasting, you will know, a hot day, will be on the way (Foolish one) You analyze, the earth and the sky I ask you why, you can't analyze the signs, of the present time I had a dream, not unlike the one from old Of a man king, whose head was made of gold Stand castles of sand weather the sundials rise 'n fall Chasing wind through your hands, 'til water runs dry the well DREAM, DANIEL, DREAM FOR WHAT'S YET TO COME SEE, DANIEL, SEE FOR EVERYTHING UNDER THE SUN And in the West, a cloud appears For shadows of a coming shower near, Oh, so near (Hypocrites) You analyze, the earth and the sky I ask you why, you can't analyze the signs, of the present time Vanity, Yes, all is vanity Vanity, Yes, all's futility For one that dies, another's born Where laughter's heard, comforters mourn There's a time for everything A song for love, even abhor An olive branch, or winter's war There's a time for EVERYTHING, UNDER THE SUN Part II: Am I Ever Gonna Change I'm tired of being me, and I don't like what I see, I'm not who I appear to be So I start off every day, down on my knees I will pray, for a change in any way But as the day goes by, I live through another lie, if it's any wonder why AM I EVER GONNA CHANGE WILL I ALWAYS STAY THE SAME IF I SAY ONE THING, THEN I DO THE OTHER IT'S THE SAME OLD SONG, THAT GOES ON FOREVER AM I EVER GONNA CHANGE I'M THE ONLY ONE TO BLAME WHEN I THINK I'M RIGHT, I WIND UP WRONG IT'S A FUTILE FIGHT, GONE ON TOO LONG Please tell me if it's true, am I too old to start anew, cause that's what I want to do But time and time again, when I think I can, I fall short in the end So why do I even try, Will it matter when I die, Can anyone hear my cry? AM I EVER GONNA CHANGE TAKE IT DAY BY DAY MY WILL IS WEAK AND MY FLESH TOO STRONG THIS PEACE I SEEK TILL THY KINGDOM COMES Part III: Who Cares? Tell me, Jesus, are you angry? One more sheep has, just gone astray A hardening of hearts, turning to stone Wandering off, so far from home So many children, losing time Walk in darkness, looking for a sign Chasing their rainbows, the future looks so bright Slowly we're losing, Sight of the light WHO CARES? WHO CARES? WHO CARES? TELL ME WHO CARES? WHO CARES? All alone, out in the cold Can't look back, am I growing old I chose a path, is this my fate Am I finding out, the truth too late CHORUS Here I am, a naked man Nothing to hide with empty hands Remember me, I am the one Who lost his way, your Prodigal Son WHO CARES? WHO CARES? WHO CARES? TELL ME WHO CARES? WHO CARES? AM I EVER GONNA CHANGE WILL I ALWAYS STAY THE SAME SAY ONE THING THEN I DO THE OTHER SAME OLD SONG GOES ON FOREVER RISE, RISE 'N SHINE A NEW DAY IS COMING YES IT IS! |

Losing my Religon - REM
I quite like the song, but it never really affected me until years after it came out... when it was played on MTV during the worst night of my life... and then the words kind of took on a totally different meaning. |

Sing me to sleep
Sing me to sleep I'm tired and I I want to go to bed Sing me to sleep Sing me to sleep And then leave me alone Don't try to wake me in the morning 'Cause I will be gone Don't feel bad for me I want you to know Deep in the cell of my heart I will feel so glad to go Sing me to sleep Sing me to sleep I don't want to wake up On my own anymore |

I have two songs that have lyrics I love:
Robbie Williams - She's The One: ----- I was her she was me We were one we were free And if there's somebody calling me on She's the one If there's somebody calling me on She's the one We were young we were wrong We were fine all along If there's somebody calling me on She's the one When you get to where you wanna go And you know the things you wanna know You're smiling When you said what you wanna say And you know the way you wanna play Yeah You'll be so high you'll be flying Though the sea will be strong I know we'll carry on 'Cos if there's somebody calling me on She's the one If there's somebody calling me on She's the one When you get to where you wanna go And you know the things you wanna know You're smiling When you said what you wanna say And you know the way you wanna say it You'll be so high you'll be flying I was her she was me We were one we were free If there's somebody calling me on She's the one If there's somebody calling me on She's the one If there's somebody calling me on She's the one Yeah she's the one and Bette Midler - Wind Beneath My Wings -------- Oh, oh, oh, oh - It must have been cold there in my shadow, to never have sunlight on your face. You were content to let me shine, that's your way. You always walked a step behind. So I was the one with all the glory, while you were the one with all the strain, A beautiful face without a name for so long. A beautiful smile to hide the pain. Did you ever know that you're my hero, and everything I would like to be? I can fly higher than an eagle, for you are the wind beneath my wings. It might have appeared to go unnoticed, but I've got it all here in my heart. I want you to know I know the truth, of course I know it. I would be nothing without you. Did you ever know that you're my hero? You're everything I wish I could be. I could fly higher than an eagle, for you are the wind beneath my wings. Did I ever tell you you're my hero? You're everything, everything I wish I could be. Oh, and I, I could fly higher than an eagle, for you are the wind beneath my wings, 'cause you are the wind beneath my wings. Oh, the wind beneath my wings. You, you, you, you are the wind beneath my wings. Fly, fly, fly away. You let me fly so high. Oh, you, you, you, the wind beneath my wings. Oh, you, you, you, the wind beneath my wings. Fly, fly, fly high against the sky, so high I almost touch the sky. Thank you, thank you, thank God for you, the wind beneath my wings oh and Sinead O'Connor - nothing compares 2 u - you've got me started now! lol the above two are my favourite ever though. |

u2 bad
If you twist and turn away. It you tear yourself in two again. If I could, yes I would If I could, I would let it go. Surrender, dislocate. If I could throw this lifeless life-line to the wind. Leave this heart of clay, see you walk, walk away Into the night, and through the rain Into the half light and through the flame. If I could, through myself, set your spirit free I'd lead your heart away, see you break, break away Into the light and to the day. To let it go and so to find away. To let it go and so find away. I'm wide awake. I'm wide awake, wide awake. I'm not sleeping. If you should ask, then maybe They'd tell you what I would say True colours fly in blue and black Blue silken sky and burning flag. Colours crash, collide in blood-shot eyes. If I could, you know I would If I could, I would let it go. This desperation, dislocation Separation, condemnation Revelation, in temptation Isolation, desolation Let it go and so to find away To let it go and so to find away To let it go and so to find away I'm wide awake, I'm wide awake, wide awake I'm not sleeping Oh no, no, no. |

I think I get way too emotional with a lot of songs, but the most profound would need to be:
Elton John - Candle in the wind Boyzone - Father and Son (if you are close to your Dad, then this would maybe get you going) Lyrics below if you don't recognise it. It's not time to make a change Just relax, take it easy You're still young, that's your fault There's so much you have to know Find a girl, settle down If you want you can marry Look at me, I am old But I'm happy I was once like you are now And I know that it's not easy To be calm when you've found Something going on But take your time, think a lot Think of everything you've got For you will still be here tomorrow But your dreams may not How can I try to explain When I do he turns away again And it's always been the same Same old story From the moment I could talk I was ordered to listen Now there's a way and I know That I have to go away I know I have to go It's not time to make a change Just sit down and take it slowly You're still young that's your fault There's so much you have to go through Find a girl, settle down If you want you can marry Look at me, I am old But I'm happy All the times that I've cried Keeping all the things I know inside And it's hard, but it's harder To ignore it If they were right I'd agree But it's them they know, not me Now there's a way and I know I have to go away I know I have to go You couldn't imagine listening to this if your dad passed away (although mine hasn't, so I don't need to worry about that )Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody REM - Everybody Hurts there is more, but those are the most emotional ones (for me personally) |

Another couple of songs that get me all emotional:
3 Doors Down - Be Like That He spent his whole life being too young, To live the life that's in his dreams At night lies awake and he wonders, Why can’t that be me Cause in his life he is filled With all these good intentions He’s left a lot of things He’d rather not mention right now But just before he says goodnight, He looks up with a little smile at me, And he says, If I could be like that, I would give anything Just to live one day, in those shoes If I could be like that, I would give anything Just to live one day, in those shoes If I could be like that, what would I do, What would I do Now and dreams we run She spends her days up in the north park, Watching the people as they pass And all she wants is just A little piece of this dream, Is that too much to ask With a safe home, and a warm bed, On a quiet little street All she wants is just that something to Hold onto, that’s all she needs Yeah! If I could be like that, I would give anything Just to live one day, in those shoes If I could be like that, what would I do, What would I do I’m falling into this, dreams We run away If I could be like that, I would give anything Just to live one day, in those shoes If I could be like that, what would I do, What would I do If I could be like that, I would give anything Just to live one day, in those shoes If I could be like that, what would I do, What would I do If I could be like that, I would give anything Just to live one day, in those shoes If I could be like that, what would I do, What would I do Falling in I feel I am falling in, to this again. Matchbox 20 - If You're Gone I think I’ve already lost you I think you’re already gone I think I’m finally scared now You think I’m weak - but I think you’re wrong I think you’re already leaving Feels like your hand is on the door I thought this place was an empire But now I’m relaxed - I can’t be sure I think you’re so mean - I think we should try I think I could need - this in my life I think I’m just scared - I think too much I know this is wrong it’s a problem I’m dealing If you’re gone - maybe it’s time to go home There’s an awful lot of breathing room But I can hardly move If you’re gone - baby you need to come home Cuz there’s a little bit of something me In everything in you I bet you’re hard to get over I bet the room just won’t shine I bet my hands I can stay here I bet you need - more than you mind I think you’re so mean - I think we should try I think I could need - this in my life I think I’m just scared - that I know too much I can’t relate and that’s a problem I’m feeling If you’re gone - maybe it’s time to go home There’s an awful lot of breathing room But I can hardly move If you’re gone - baby you need to come home Cuz there’s a little bit of something me In everything in you I think you’re so mean - I think we should try I think I could need - this in my life I think I’m just scared - do I talk too much I know this is wrong it’s a problem I’m dealing If you’re gone - maybe it’s time to go home There’s an awful lot of breathing room But I can hardly move If you’re gone - baby you need to come home Cuz there’s a little bit of something me In everything in you

Mind you, that's one of the things I like about REM. Generally, the lyrics will convey a mood rather than specific images -- everyone's free to make their own interpretations. Along with the two songs already mentiond (and to annoy the hardcore REM fans who think anything after Green is crap), I'd go for Find The River and E-Bow the Letter. |

The most touching song I have heard is Will Young's "Fine Line". It is just him singing with a string orchestra. No gimmicks, no over production. Beautiful and so very sad. Quote:
oh and Sinead O'Connor - nothing compares 2 u
I agree with that. A beautiful song, beautifully sung and a wonderful video.
