You are not surprised, are you?
Having worked in offices for years - both temporary and permanent jobs - there are a lot of idiots out there earning good money.
One director of a firm I worked for (went down the tubes somewhat, couldn't compete) was sacked - his expenses were bigger than his salary.
The firm provided chauffered limos and free booze for these cretins - most of whom cheated on their expenses anyway. The senior director used these cars to ferry his family to his other home on the Sussex coast.
The stories about the demise of the firm and the tricks they used to get the men to down tools and walk out the door (cheap cheap week, no wages to pay) are legion.
They made older workers redundant and wondered why the cheaper, younger ones couldn't machine the parts to make them fit. (The older workers knew what they had to do and the new ones didn't). Result, lost business, slow production - you name it.
All this wonderful, British production, engineered by a bunch of numbskulls sitting in the boardroom, drinking free booze and earning shedloads of money to sack their workers.
When the board returned to the ground floor management suite in our building, (having wasted 300 grand a year on a so-called posher building in the town centre, they proceeded to waste more money (while sacking more workers in order to make their wage bill fit the paltry sums they were making) by refurbing said suite. My bright idea was to lower the whole building down over the ground floor
(with the directors still in it). Result - no more problems!
Alas, no-one took my advice.
