I saw one of the press reports where Lee said he now plans to lease a Porsche and get central heating for his mother's flat.

"Aww, nice bloke!!" I thought to myself.

Then I saw what he earned last year..

£78,000

So £78,000 wasn't enough to buy central heating but now he's on £100,000+ he can afford it?!

Something doesn't add up there! What is he installing, gold plated pipes? Surely central heating doesn't cost that much?

Didn;t you know his mom lives in a castle

How peculiar of a statement to make - may be he did lie last year.

My sister is having central heating installed in her flat. I can't remember the figure but i was surprised at how cheap it was.

It depends on how many rooms, and how many holes need to be drilled through the walls. A good boiler is not cheap either.

Not sure how true it is, but if it is then that's bloody awful! He clearly has enough money to buy nice suits etc for himself etc esp if he was on 70k plus, but not enough for heating for his mother?

I thought the exact same thing when I read that!

Maybe he's going for an M&S system? "This is not just a central heating system..."

I am shocked at the amounts the final five at least said they earned, to be honest none of them impressed me much with their business skills ! How did they get these jobs!!

Wasn't it reported that he lived in a £500k house as well? (Can't remember whether this was on that apprentice show about the finalists or in one of the Sunday mags)

Sadly you dont get much for half a million these days - quite ordinary terraces go for that in the 'better' parts of London.

He was probably lying about his salary - most of them seem to.

Otherwise, he is tighter than a gnat's chuff.

So what if he lives in a £500k house.
So what if he earned £78k last year.
Why is he a tw*t all of a sudden for not giving his mum central heating?

Good luck to the guy, he's a worthy winner!

Lee worked in recruitment so I imagine most of that was comission based, maybe now he knows his income will be steadier he feels that he can splash out a bit.

If he lives in a £500k house then his £78K salary will be used for his mortgage, fuel bills, council tax etc. There will not be much left at the end of the month!

You are not surprised, are you?

Having worked in offices for years - both temporary and permanent jobs - there are a lot of idiots out there earning good money.

One director of a firm I worked for (went down the tubes somewhat, couldn't compete) was sacked - his expenses were bigger than his salary.

The firm provided chauffered limos and free booze for these cretins - most of whom cheated on their expenses anyway. The senior director used these cars to ferry his family to his other home on the Sussex coast.

The stories about the demise of the firm and the tricks they used to get the men to down tools and walk out the door (cheap cheap week, no wages to pay) are legion.

They made older workers redundant and wondered why the cheaper, younger ones couldn't machine the parts to make them fit. (The older workers knew what they had to do and the new ones didn't). Result, lost business, slow production - you name it.

All this wonderful, British production, engineered by a bunch of numbskulls sitting in the boardroom, drinking free booze and earning shedloads of money to sack their workers.

When the board returned to the ground floor management suite in our building, (having wasted 300 grand a year on a so-called posher building in the town centre, they proceeded to waste more money (while sacking more workers in order to make their wage bill fit the paltry sums they were making) by refurbing said suite. My bright idea was to lower the whole building down over the ground floor
(with the directors still in it). Result - no more problems!

Alas, no-one took my advice.

What is it with the number of idiotic tw...ts on this and other threads who express hate or dislike about Lee or the others.

YOU DON'T KNOW THEM.

YOU HAVE NEVER MET THEM!!

Get a life!!

I read in the papers today that he was a "recruitment manager". So: he works in a temp agency - I thought. Trust me, the people who work in these agencies are not the most competent people on the planet. All mouth and trousers - which was my verdict on the Lovely Lee.

I honestly believe 50% of apprentice candidates never earned half as much as they claimed to have done before the show. The majority of them are utterly useless, I wouldn't be surprised if they all just had average jobs.

I like Lee, and think people should stop giving him so much stick, he was obviously a good business man to have managed three wins as project manager, and never ending up in the final three of any of the boardrooms.

500k in London isn't a lot. My house is worth around £390,000 but on a recent visit to Nottingham , a house nearly twice as big as mine was selling for 90K

Seriously , London is far too expensive.

His after tax pay would be nearer 50k so a mortage on 500k would probably get him down to nearer 20k.

Comes of having too big a house.......

Reports in the paper that his girlfriend works for Capita (or Crapita as they are nicknamed) in a senior position. Maybe she earns the £78k???
