He didn't say the directors advice was rubbish. He was giving his own take on what he'd do.

"Playing the 'duel'" - my sympathy for Helene has evaporated again.

And I have to say - Lee getting a nose bleed within moments (in screen time) of sniffing 'Roulette' for the first time could not have been a good sign...
