I was a bit surprised on You're Fired when Adrian Chiles asked the studio audience if Helene or Alex should have been fired to see about 90%+ saying yes.

There seem to have been far more deeply unpopular candidates (with the viewers) this series..Michael, Alex, Jenny C, Helene, (Jenny M?) compared to last series when I can only really remember Katie. Christina and Simon seemed to generally liked.

I suppose with such high viewing figures there will be more of them for us to hate next year.

Why would that surprise you, especially about Alex?

I may be mis-remembering, but don't most firees get a majority of 'fired' cards unless it looks like they've been blatantly unfairly dismissed (e.g. Shazia).

From what I've seen of the You're Fired's this series, the fired candidates usually get a majority of "Fired" cards, in some cases at the 90% level seen last night with Alex and Helene. Raef though got 90-95% "Hired" cards....

I was fairly surprised at how negatively the audience reacted to Helene and Alex. Neither of them are in the running for World's Nicest Person but they're clearly in a different league to Crazy Jenny and Greasy Michael. I thought the fact they'd reached the semi-final would be enough to secure a relatively warm reception from the studio audience.

Shazia got 100% "Hired" cards and Sara got a majority of "Hired" cards (probably 60-70% at a guess).

While I can't remember for sure, I'm sure Simon must have got mostly "Hired".

^ Simon got about the same as Sara- 60-70%.

Katie was popular last year?

Oddly enough, I think the worst reception on YF was for Kevin, who actually got boos when he walked on. Even Jenny C didn't get boos!

Some one who went to the YF show the week after Kevin was fired said they were instructed not to boo any of the candidates, which I actually agree with. I don't like when people get booed, it's one of the things that has put me off Big Brother...

I suspect that people didn't like them because they felt that they didn't deserve to get as far as they did. I would agree with that - I can see how Alex managed to get to the final, but how on earth Helene managed it is a complete mystery.

The question is: "Did this person deserve to be fired?",

NOT

"Do you like this person?"

And neither of them deserved to be hired, hence the sea of Fired cards!

Yes, of course, but at the end of the day, people do like/dislike certain candidates, and they generally do not think that people who they like deserve to be fired. Simon, for example was my favourite candidate of all, and he was clearly very popular. A lot of people said that he did not deserve to be fired, although he obviously was out of his depth.

Yes, exactly. People did not like the fact that two people had made it as far as the final, when they did not think that they had deserved to.

To be honest, I think Alex deserved his place in the final. I didn't like him, but there was no task where I felt he deserved to be fired.

I've made no secret that I thought Helene should have been fired in the wedding task, so I agree she shouldn't really have been there.

He actuallly deserved to be fired week 1 up for his appalling performance as PM, and was only really saved by Nicholas self destructing in the boardroom.....

Well sometimes you need a bit of luck & he got it with Nicholas & Alex went from strengh to strengh.
I was not his greatest fan but thought he deserved at least a final place.

I think that this series had too many unpopular candidates whether they got to the finals or not. Character is more important than business acumen. Yes, it had the highest ratings of any series but the point is it was full of vile people apart from a few.

Yes, I think that this series they got the balance wrong, in all honesty. It may well have been a ratings success, but it also came pretty close to jumping the shark, imho.

Looking at the balance of the original candidates, you couldn't fault it. All with the right quals, right age group and a very wide social spread, and all with a good business background.

In terms of the personality's you certainly could. They specifically went for people that would cause friction and drama. Go back and look at series 1 and you will see how it has changed.

Before the LAST series ( i.e. ser. 3) Siralun put his foot down and demanded a higher level of candidate.

I think its more the pressure, and the natural competition which causes tempers to fray. 16 saints would be quarrelling after 12 weeks of that.

Also, you cant select on that basis because you don't know who Siralun will fire each week.

The standard was the lowest yet though, this series, so that clearly didn't work if it was the aim....

Thats only your opinion!! Remember, we do only see a few minutes of each day, edited for TV reasons, NOT to present a truthful record.
