Good listen but a lot of extra noise which was a bit :-\ on my ears!
Also, we finally know where Jessie applied to for drama school and they are v.competitive so perhaps not much of a surprise that she didn't get in!
I also realised how much I did like Fran! I was disappointed with her in the live shows but anyway I hope she does well

Thank you so much for that!

It's a big listen though- I gave up after Jessie, sorry Jodie I'll listen some other time

Tara in particular came across really well- seems like she had a bit of a rough ride with the show and I'm glad she's now able to actually prove herself properly. 12 shows a week as well! I couldn't do 12 anythings a week

Glad we finally found out which drama schools Jessie was rejected from too- just to satisfy my curiosity.

Yeah, sorry about the sound quality. As I edited Matt's interviews together I tried my best to clean them up, but audio interviews with people who are on mobile phones are a real pain!

An abbreviated version of the interviews is available in this week's print edition of The Stage - guaranteed noise-free!

Isn't it weird as for me Tara didn't come across well at all!

My impression was that she wanted to make sure everyone knew she didn't sing well because she had been ill and the judges hadn't mentioned this (sorry, but if you truly had severe bronchitis you would not be able to sing at all), and that she already had a successful career (so she was some how 'better' than a lot of the other contestants) and seemed to be intent on emphasising what a fantastic part the narrator was in the touring Joseph (which it is, but she did go on and doing TWELVE shows a week ). And she seemed a bit 'down' on the reality show experience so that didn't sit well with me. All in all she came over to me that she felt she'd had a slap in the face being voted out so early and was still stinging from it (***knows she'll be flamed***) .

And I can't believe I'm saying this, but I wasn't blown away by Jodie's bit either because I'd heard her say it all before in other interviews . I know she must be doing so many interviews (and I've heard a lot of them ), but I wish she'd vary her answers somehow so she doesn't sound like she's saying the same thing over and over.

I thought Amy & Fran came over really well and it was interesting to hear Sam say she's looking to perform more rather than do any further training.

Jessie was fab! She's clearly riding the wave and I can't wait to hear CM talked to her about.

Scott if you are still around, could you tell us when did the interviews were done?

They were done last week -- i.e., the first few days after the final. They only went online now because we needed to coincide the podcast release with the print feature the interviews were originally designed for.

Thanks for posting the link to these interviews - I've listened to Fran and Sam, which cheered me up no end

I will read the others in the print version this week to save my ears!

I agree.

Aww, Fran

Lovely interviews, fueling my IDA withdrawl symptoms...

Aw, that was a nice interview - Fran and Jessie especially came across really well. I wonder what CM's going to say to her?

I would've loved to have heard comments from Sarah, Rachel or Niamh too though.

But if it was done over the phone that shouldn't be a problem.

It is such a shame as we could have heard what each one was up to now instead of wondering what's true and what's not.

I'm sure Sarah and the others will do lots of interviews.

I thought that most of them sounded pretty honest.
But I was a bit well irritated by Tara's.
Did she really have Bronchitis? Becuase I thought it was a pretty seriouse condition.
And maybe she should have said before now.
And then she blaimed the song chioces. I'm sure she's got a good vioce. But I'm guessing that she isn't verry happy about the whole thing.

No you were not imagining it.
I'm not sure if she was that ill. I don't like excuses.
But I feel sorry for Tara because she thinks that she is a fantastic singer. When clearly she is average. I think that she will be good in Joseph though. I'm sure that some pretty average singers still manage to make it. She has good acting skills.
I'm soo mean aren't I. But although she can obviously sing, her vioce is nothing special. That's all.

I think she did mention that she had bronchitis to the panel, and you can understand her feeling a bit miffed that she blew her big chance to shine. In saying that, it wasn't her weak voice, but the affected accent and movements that really hurt her. Let's not be too hard on her though, as she probably just suffered a sudden bout of rickets on the show

She has seemed nice in interviews, and I feel sorry for her.

Flamethrower, Tara's been getting pretty good reviews for touring Jo I think she made a very good point (one which DSers have been making too!) when she said that Nancy wouldn't be singing like Mariah Carey. Obviously she, and I'd imagine a lot of the other girls, weren't 100% comfortable singing pop songs and they probably all suffered for it. Even Sarah, who was vocally flawless throughout her time on IDA, has said that she was singing songs she wouldn't normally be singing. I guess it's a lot to do with how well your voice is suited to specific genres. I'd say from the sing off and ALAHNM, that Tara was pretty comfortable with MT numbers, and that's what Joseph will be allowing her to sing I thought it was quite amusing when she said the cast of touring Jo were worried about her joining the cast...

She came across as genuinely nice, and I'd really like to see her in Joseph (if it weren't sold out...) The repetition of the fact she had bronchitus was a bit grating though, but I can fully understand why she'd want to get it out there - she's probably a lot better than what we saw on IDA. Take Fran as another example, there were a few inconsitencies in her upper register on IDA, but if you listen to recordings of her in Rent, or watch that clip of her singing ALAHNM from her concert in Wales, she's mindblowingly good! Seriously amazing! I guess the pressure of live TV and other factors will influence the quality of performance that each girl gives, and some will react to it worse than others.
