My sister has a '3' phone and she is always having trouble with dropped calls, this is in the Glasgow city centre area. I used my T-Mobile SIM in the phone before her, in the same area for a few months before I gave it to her and had no problems.

We spoke to a rather honest guy in the '3' store and he told us that it was a network problem and that there was very little being done about it.

Been onto 3 CS again today and they are still playing that "there are problem with disconnections, our engineers are looking into it" although when speaking to a CS person he said it wasn't in my particular area
I am now being escalated to the next level and will be contacted within the next 24 - 48 hours.
I know another 2 in my area on 3 who are going mad with all the disconnections they are having, various makes of phone too so can't just be K800i

I live on a fringe area, about 1/2 a mile away from a 3 mast at home and have had dropped calls for years with 3. It happens when the signal switches to their GSM roaming partner. It also happens a lot in Glasgow and my 3 Broadband dongle can't get a signal in quite a few built up areas. 3 have some great extra services on Planet 3 and a lot is free but sadly in Glasgow its more often unavailable as the handset offers reduced funtionality when roaming.

Some handsets are better than others and best I have used is the Amoi 3 Skypephone. Its one of their cheapest but holds a 3 signal much better than LG's, Nokias etc.

Chatting to others the problem seems to be common and despite the value tarriffs and slightly improved customer service everyone I have spoken to seems to be looking forward to moving on when their contracts come to an end.

For those experiencing problems with 3's network, I think CS needs to be contacted a good few times before an issue is taken seriously. After my initial phone call with them I was given a fault number. I just emailed them every week (at http://www.three.co.uk/personal/help...ack_detail.omp), quoted this and asked for an update. Cut and paste the same text every time, if need be. Much less hassle than hanging on the phone and going through the whole battery/sim out and back in every time you speak to an advisor. Make yourself a nuisance and perhaps this will work! Eventually my problem was resolved.

My brother went into the 3 shop today to find out what was wrong as he was either getting no signal or a very bad signal and he was told:

"You need to update the software on your phone, that will fix your problems!"

They had me doing this its not the phone it is the network just tell them it's because of the end of 02 partnership, thats why everyone is having problems.

Is that the latest excuse?

Its been flaky since 2003 where I live and I'm not the only one that thinks that.

I'm fed up with folks telling me i need to get a new mobile phone (its an LG Viewty!!) when I keep getting cut off on 3. I will take their advice and dump the network when my contract expires next year.

Can't see why this would affect my signal with 3 though.
Used to be fine in and around my home area but lately its showing red (no bars)
At least it hasn't dropped calls for a couple of days now

Ok how weird is this I have just upgraded to the SE X10 and can't use it as it is lucky to attain one bar of signal and thats only if the phone is idle if I go to use it the signal goes completely. However If I put the sim card back in my other 3 handset the signal is full strength? My husband has the same issue with his but he gets better signal on his X10 with two bars instead of 1! I have only had the phone a week and used it for the first time yesterday but got so fed up with no signal that I put it back in the box!!!

Adding have been a 3 customer for 4 years now and never had an issue with my signal here until this phone?

I find I can make a call if I trek to the bottom of the garden, but even then it frequently cuts off. I've manually searched for a network but the only ones available to me are 3's own, which aren't much good. Even the 2G coverage is awful.

I popped into my local 3 Store today to see if there were any network faults but they couldn't tell me. Said I should update the software on my phone (SE k800i) to see if that helps. Before I try this or phone customer services, which is going to cost me from a landline, does this seem likely? I can't see how it would be the phone's problem when it works in other areas where the coverage is better?

Anyone else experiencing issues with 3 in the Johnstone//Renfrewshire area?”
