13-06-2008
i have no programs listed in the humax pvr 9200, when there should be around 27.

so i have purchased a ide/sata to usb adapter and connected it.

I get the following message with the HDC software:

I have removed the humax hdd from the unit and connected it to my macbook with a sata/ide usb adapter. It is showing under disk manager, but is not mounted.

When using the HDC app in terminal, i get the following:

Getting AV index... got 27 entries...

But how do i copy all the entries to my computer?
I don't seem to have any luck with the read me file and ive tried the humaxgui app, but it doesn't list anything.
I have about 35Gb of content on the disk, and am desperately trying to access it.

Please help

Use HumaxRW in recovery mode see HumaxRW Wiki

Sorry missed the bit where you said Macbook. Can you find a friend with a PC and use HumaxRW.

You have to open a command window and navigate to the file where your humaxrw.exe is and run it from there, mine was in C:\users\ians\desktop\humaxrw-1.08-win32> then at the prompt type humaxrw and that will run the exe.

I too have a corrupted disk, but when I ran the exe file it couldn't find the Hummys hdd!!

if you don't know dos commands just google it and there are quite a few, maybe a good idea would also be to change the name of the file that the exe is stored in because typing out humaxrw-1.08-win32 a few times if you get it wrong is a pain!

If anyone can tell me why I can't get the drive recognised would help too, do you have to change the master/slave shorting thing around???

Hope the above helps you!!

im stuck at the same place as you now, i got it to run but it will not recognize the disk.

ive also tried the readfiles program but got an unexpected error or could not find program list again.

arrghhh!

the disk shows it has content on it and hds recognises 27 programmes, so why cant some program just copy all the .ts files in raw format.

mac and windows will not recognise the file system, so im starting to give up hope

I've done this a couple of times and just used humaxrw in recovery mode as described. The only tricky bit is getting the right hard disk number, but once you've done this you just need to use the help to work out which commands to use.

What are we doing wrong?? what do we type when the Hummys HDD is connected to the pc?? If you type humaxrw ito run the exe it just say Humax disk not found!

The Humaxrw wiki is informative but doesn't tell me enough to get started, or am I being short sighted??

Anyone's input to get me reading the Hdd will be very helpful.

Start by reading the README.txt file that comes with HumaxRW. You need to provide command line arguments so something like

humaxrw 2: -r -l

where you 2: specificies the physical disk number (you may need to experiment to find the correct value), -r says work in recovery mode and -l says list the available files.

ok, it seems my HDD is physical disk 1, because there is no such file or directory when I use 2: But when i type humaxrw 1: -r -l it says\\.\PhysicalDrive1: Permission denied

I am already have an administrator account

So what can I do???

I thought I was an administrator, but I have enabled it finally and now when I try to access disk1 it says that there is an unknown partition table!!! Does anyone know what that means???

It means it doesn't recognise the data on that disk - try disk 0

Not in any way, shape or form. The file system is proprietary.

I tried disk 0 and it gave the same result, disk 3 was no such file. Does it matter if I have since recorded some programs after the corruption??

It is better not to record more programs if it is corrupt since it is likely to make it worse.

Does the disk appear under a drive letter in "My Computer" - it shouldn't. If it does then it will have been formatted/initialised by the Windows disk manager and you will have lost all the data on this disk.

To find the number of the disk for humaxrw you could go into disk manager but do not let it initialise the disk. Just use the number of the disk that is 160GB with an unknown disk format and a size of 160GB.

The disk appears in device manager as a usb disk drive (under disk drives not usb)

Where/what is disk manager??

i spent ages trying to rescue my corrupt data, but eventually came to terms that it is not possible at all to recover, because the corrupt program list removes any chance of recognizing the files.

sorry

If you have the drive connected to your PC via USB, you could try a programme called GetDataBack to scan the hard drive and copy your files across.

Not used it on my Humax, but when my laptop went screwy the other week I got all my data back after I had given up all hope.

I think the chances of it working are vanishingly small. Programs like that need to understand the file system structure and it is most unlikely that it will understand the proprietary system used by the 9200.
